What is SD of given set of numbers whose average is 5? 1. None of the numbers are greater than this Average 2. The Standard deviation is 5 when value of each of the given number is increased by 7 will be grateful if you can provide examples. to me B is the correct options. but i seem not to understand the statement 1
Thanks guys. I appreciate you. @Bunuel. I read this earlier post by then i think i misinterpreted the statement 1 as;
example we could have a set {2,2,3,3,5} which has an average of 5 and a total of 15 which may have a different standard deviation from a set (5,5,5).
this got me confused.
(1) says: None of the numbers are greater than this Average.
So, {2,2,3,3,5} is NOT possible.

@Bunuel, I don’t understand honestly. My bad! if I am complicating things. I know my quant knowledge is not as good as most of you guys on this platform. But I am ready to learn and improve my quant scores.
if the question says "none of the numbers are greater than this average" Clearly i understand it as "the various digits in the set cannot be more that the number 5" hence (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) are all possible members of the set.

The average of {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} is 3. So, it does not satisfy the statement because 4 and 5 ARE greater than 3. Again, for the statement 'None of the numbers in the list is greater than the average of the list' to hold true, the list must comprise exclusively identical elements.
