Consider the selling price as x and no. Of hats as 100

60% of the hats were sold at 50% more than the selling price = x + 50% = 1.5x
Revenue for these hats = 60*1.5x = 90x

70% of the remaining hats (40*70% = 28) were sold at 66 2/3 discount of the selling price = 1.5x - 200/3% = 0.5x
Revenue from these hats = 28 *0.5x = 14x

Total cost of all hats (100 hats) for the shop = 100x

Revenue from the hats sold = 90x + 14x = 104x

Therefore, gross profit = (104x - 100x)/100x = 4%

but ‘gross profit’ is written in the question not revenue

are they same in the context of gmat

?

because i thought gross profit meant SP - CP

Gp is revenue - cost. Revenue is nothing but the SP and cost is the CP

Can someone help with this GRE question
So we start with finding the circumstance of the sphere

5000=2 πr

r=5000/2 πr

Then we use pytaghore

It is mentioned it is 1 foot above the surface: r^2+1^2 =r^2

r=sqrt(r^2-1)

so the new circumference is C=2 πr
