Hi,
I am looking forward to apply for MBA programs in USA and ISB. Below is a brief of my profile-
Nationality- Indian
Gmat Score-690 (Quant-50, Verbal- 32, IR-6, AWA-6)
College- Delhi College of Engineering (one of the top engineering colleges in India- equivalent to IITs)
Agg Percentage- 69.6% (Delhi University-1st Class- 60-75%, Distinction >75%)
12th- 79.2%
10th- 91.2%
Total work Ex- 3 years (this will be 4 years by 2016)
Work Ex-
1. Worked for 2.3 years in a hedge funds consultancy firm providing technical solutions to major US and Europeans hedge fund clients, most of them with an AUM of over 1 billion $. My role here was highly techno-functional and client facing. Along with client facing projects, I mentored my juniors, gave domain and technical training ,and was promoted in the first year of my tenure. Developed a system that reduced the costs as well as the effort by over 50%.
2. Switched to Barclays and have been working here since an year as a Senior Analyst. I am working in futures and OTC derivatives reporting project and my roles includes developing, enhancing and maintaining critical client reports for over 200 clients across the globe and MIS reports for upper management. Received a number of client appreciation awards, appreciated for the ideas presented to improve the system and appointed to a part of the interview panel. Also a part of the barclays CSR group and have helped in organizing a couple of donation camps and vocational training events.
Extra Currics-
Worked in a small non profit startup by fellow mates in the college to help juniors catapult their careers by the experience of their seniors. Helped in organizing various workshops, group discussion and debate sessions, quiz and puzzles data collection and mock interview events. Organized video sessions that showcased the experiences of successes and failures of the final year students in their job hunt.
Was part of American cultural Internship Program for an year- a series of meetups and satsangs organized by a group of Americans with the aim to share the culture between the two countries.
have joined a community association group for the residents of my present society. Took part in organizing events that provided free health check ups, yoga sessions etc
MBA goals- I want to grow in the financial services and consulting domain. I believe that my techo functional aptitude helps me to design solutions. I want to be placed in decision making group that has a global impact. I see myself to have good managerial ability and I want to set a platform for myself to become an expert in the same.
Colleges-
I will be applying this year.
I have shortlisted Kelley, Kenan-Flagler, ISB and McDonough at the present. A little research said that these colleges have good exposure in the domain I want to grow. However, the primary factor I have shortlisted them is my low GMAT score. Being a part of highly competitive Indian group, I think that top b-schools may be far stretched.
Still, I want to know whether my profile, GMAt and GPA make me suitable for a higher ranked b-school such as Duke, UCLA or similar.
if yes, could you suggest some please?
Also, could you comment on my profile if my experience is suitable for the schools I mentioned.
