Hi Anmtal,
I hope everything is well!
Here are some of my brief observations based on your profile.
•Your profile would fit into the top 10 percentile of all applicants to US B-schools. However, you have to keep in mind that you are up against the strong 'Indian MBA applicant pool'. Just to put things into perspective, the selectivity of US nationals in top b-schools can be as high as 25% to 35% while that of Indian applicants can be as low as 8%. We have to get the whole story tightly knit so that your application is fool-proof.
•Extra curricular activities are very strong. A right mix of academic/work-related + community activities. This will be well appreciated by US b-schools.
•The most important thing in any top international B-school would be to put together a cogent and tight application.
Now coming to your questions:
If Your GMAT score of 700 than its good. It would fall above or in the ball park of average GMAT score of all major US B-schools. Please note that HBS, Stanford, Booth and a couple of others would have slightly high average GMAT scores. While you need not sweat about it, it is a good idea to improve the score if you have the bandwidth.
•We could split your target US b-schools into four buckets
•Reach(1-2 schools) - Kellogg, MIT, Tuck, Chicago
•Fit(2-3 schools) - Duke, Darden, Berkeley, Cornell, Michigan, NYU, UCLA
•Safe(2-3 schools) - UT-Austin, Emory, Indiana, Purdue, Carnegie-Mellon, Kenan-Flagler plus others
International - ISB would be a 'fit' school for you. If you’re working in India after your MBA.
Wish you all the best for your GMAT.
