Hi,
Here is a brief on my profile:
I am an Indian and I have close to 9 years of experience in the IT industry. I am looking to apply for the September 2016 intake and will have close to 10 years work ex by then.
- Started off as a Technical Support Executive in a Product Company based out of the UK and quickly moved on, within 1.5 years, to be the Team Leader leading a support team of 5 associates.
- Later moved into Professional Services as a Consultant and moved on to be Senior Consultant within a year primarily catering the UK market.. Also have a short stint (1 week) in the Middle East for a client's Go-Live support and Training.
- Our company was then acquired a large MNC and I was promptly moved to R&D as a Team Leader where I helped setup the Global Product Development team. Was instrumental in setting team norms, recruiting, setting up the required process and in growing the team from humble beginnings of 6 people to a team of more than 80 people.
- Was promoted to Project Manager Product Development and played a pivotal role in Agile Transformation.
- I later quit the company and joined a mid-sized Product Company of Indian origins as a Project Manager.
- My current responsibilities include bringing in Operational & Delivery Excellence across the organisation from an Agile perspective and manage multiple client projects (US based).
Academic Profile:
Graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from one of the Top Universities in the country with a GPA of 3.1
Extra Curricular:
Not very strong here. I have been involved in a Rock Band in my college days and played at a few events.
Joined a Theatre Production back in 2010 as Stage Manager. Successfully stage the play at the Hindu Theatre Festival one of India's leading Theatre Festivals.
Later co-founded my own Theatre Production and staged 2 successful shows.
I am yet to take my GMAT aiming for a 720 above score.
My aim post MBA is to get into Management Consulting and possibly after a few of years move into the position of COO or CEO in a leading company or start my own consulting business depending on the opportunities available.
I have a couple of questions:
1) Is it advisable to apply in R3? Based on my current GMAT mock score I understand that I might need some time to bring it up to the mark. Other than scholarships (which by the way is also very imp for me) what are the other negatives of applying in R3?
2) With my goal of getting into Management Consulting and based on the profile - will applying to the Jan 2017 intake make any difference? I am thinking purely from the perspective of being able to do a summer internship in a Consulting firm thus helping my post MBA goals. How can I leverage my existing experience to make a shift into Consulting?
Thanks in advance.
