Demographic - Indian Female.
GPA - 3.95
GRE - 323 (165Q, 158V)
Work experience: 2 years of Full time Work experice as a Software developer for Fortune 1 company (3 years by the time i join program)

Internships: 6 months of Internship at Amazon and 6 months Internship at a Startup while in College.

Post MBA Goals: Technology/ Product Management

I am concerned about my GRE, which is average for an Indian Female and my less work experience

Do I have a good profile for M7/T15?
Will the GRE and low work experice be a roadblock?

Appreciate any insights!

Would be really helpful if you can add the schools that i have shot at among M7/ T15/T25.

Hi @0xKraken,

The candidates applying for an MBA usually come with 4-5 years of experience as the admissions committee also looks for the same in applications.
However, in your case, we would like to understand your overall profile at length as the discussion will help you reflect on the right skillsets you have and what's needed to showcase in your applications.

@0xKraken - The GRE could likely be a roadblock, particularly for M7's.

For T25 broadly, whether to apply this year or next year would depend on the quality of your work-ex (achievements, skill-sets gained, promotions?, etc.), extracurriculars, post-MBA goals, and overall narrative. Depending on which school, the GRE could be a concern (or not), but these angles can help compensate for the lower-than-average work-ex.

Check out insights from this candidate's entry into USC Marshall MBA (with scholarship) w/ 2.5 years work-ex

Hope this helps. Feel free to reach out for a deeper chat.

Arvind

Hello 0xKraken

GPA of 3.95 is excellent and demonstrates strong academic capability. While a GRE score of 323 (165Q, 158V) is not exceptionally high, it is still within the range of many competitive MBA programs. Admissions committees consider the entire application holistically, so while a higher score could strengthen your application, your current score is not necessarily a roadblock.
Generally, M7 schools tend to prefer candidates with more work experience, typically in the range of 4-6 years. Your 3 years by matriculation might be considered on the lower side, but your strong academic record and experience at a top company could still make you a competitive applicant, especially if you can articulate a compelling reason for pursuing an MBA at this stage.

T15: Schools like NYU Stern, Michigan Ross, Duke Fuqua, UVA Darden, and Yale SOM could be more within reach given your profile.
T25: Schools such as UNC Kenan-Flagler, Texas McCombs, Indiana Kelley, and Georgetown McDonough could be strong options where your profile would likely be competitive.Overall, your profile is strong with notable strengths in GPA, work experience at a prestigious company, and clear career goals. While the GRE score and lower work experience may pose some challenges, they are not red flags. Focus on crafting a compelling application that highlights your strengths and aligns well with your career ambitions.
