Appreciate the feedback:)
On point #4, when you say you'd recommend other schools, which programs do you think would be a stronger fit for my profile than INSEAD, and why?

Anshika10 - your profile shows potential, given the undergrad/ GPA, breadth of work experiences, entrepreneurial exposure and extracurriculars: all things which INSEAD values.

I'd like to understand your professional roles, and reasons for joining/ switching to assess better.

Quality of work-ex matters more than quantity, so a lot would depend on how you've grown in your career, any leadership/ international exposure, what you've learned, and how that'd add value to B-school and your target roles. It'd also be important to have a strong narrative covering your experiences, career goals, and how the MBA fits in at this juncture.

Was the GMAT score inline with your mocks/ expectations, and is there a scope to improve? While it's not a dealbreaker if the rest of the profile is strong (we recently had a candidate get into INSEAD with scholarship with a 615 GMAT Focus score), a higher score can help strengthen chances.

Key differences between the Jan and Aug intake of INSEAD are here. Generally speaking, applying in an earlier round (R1 or R2) is better than R3. It's also recommended to apply to a strategic mix of schools (i.e. not put all your eggs in one basket), considering factors such as these.

Hope this helps. Feel free to reach out for a discussion.

Arvind

  2. Should I apply in the upcoming cycle, or would I be better off spending 1–2 more years scaling my ventures and applying for the 2028 intake?
  3. How are entrepreneurial experiences (Airbnb venture, PropTech startup, family business involvement) typically viewed compared to traditional corporate experience?
  4. Would you recommend the January or August intake for someone targeting a career pivot into consumer-focused product, growth, or strategy roles?
  5. Does learning French add any meaningful value to my candidacy beyond meeting INSEAD's language requirements?
  6. What would be the biggest strengths and concerns in my profile from an INSEAD admissions perspective?

Find answers to your INSEAD-Specific Queries below
  • With ~3–4 years of conventional work experience plus entrepreneurial ventures, would my profile be competitive for INSEAD despite being below the class average in work experience?
    • MBA&B Answer: INSEAD loves entrepreneurship. I went to INSEAD because of entrepreneurship on my CV.
  • Should I apply in the upcoming cycle, or would I be better off spending 1–2 more years scaling my ventures and applying for the 2028 intake?
    • I would recommend applying to R1 Sep’27 intake instead of R3 Jan’27 intake.
  • How are entrepreneurial experiences (Airbnb venture, PropTech startup, family business involvement) typically viewed compared to traditional corporate experience?
    • Like I said, INSEAD loves entrepreneurship and this would certainly fall in your favour
  • Would you recommend the January or August intake for someone targeting a career pivot into consumer-focused product, growth, or strategy roles?
    • Sep’27 intake
  • Does learning French add any meaningful value to my candidacy beyond meeting INSEAD's language requirements?
    • Not as of now. Once you are through, you can think about it then.
  • What would be the biggest strengths and concerns in my profile from an INSEAD admissions perspective?
    • Strength definitely would be Entrepreneurship and Extra Curricular activities such as Swimming (winning awards), Dance, Modelling and then Ability to contribute via Pulse Polio Programme and waste management initiative; Concerns: Your narrative, after family business and other initiatives, why would you go to Growth and Strategy roles needs explanation. Also you have not mentioned anything about International exposure. Your GMAT score is low 615FE. Though we have helped applicants with 630 GMAT (older version) get through INSEAD, still we would like to highlight that 615FE is on lower end of spectrum.

Hi @Anshika10

My colleagues have given detail replies to your answers and I concur with them on most of the points.

I would like to add the following:

1. INSEAD looks to understand your motivations. Basically WHY you have done the things you have and how those things have impacted you and made you the person you are.

This is clearly evident in the questions that they ask:

"Provide a summary of your career since graduating from university, explaining the rationale behind your key decisions and career progression."
"Give a candid description of yourself as a person and a leader, emphasising the strengths and weaknesses you recognise in yourself."
"Describe the (extracurricular/extra-professional) activities you and explain how they have enriched your life."

You definitely have a rich vibrant profile but your challenge would be to articulate a life story that not only convinces INSEAD of your choices but also impresses them and makes you stand out from other students.

Having done many different things is a good start, but in the application its important to show your reasons correctly and connect your past with what you want to do in future.

2. Test scores are an important part of your overall candidature. INSEAD looks at the profile holistically but they also want to see that you can handle their academic rigor, demonstrated in high GMAT score. I would strongly suggest that you retake GMAT or maybe try GRE if that works better for you.

You seem like a smart ambitious woman, and I'd strongly suggest that instead of applying in haste this month, you apply with better scores and well thought out application strategy to have better outcomes.

I have helped many Indian woman applicants get admitted to INSEAD (also with scholarships):)
