I gave the GMAT(first attempt) last year,and scored a 680(Quant - 49, Verbal - 33).
I am planning to apply for MBA classes starting in fall 2016.
My profile reads as follows:
GMAT 680
work ex : 28 months (Software Developer) [started working in March 2013]
Graduation : B.Tech(College Topper) - 77.7%
12th : 79.2%
10th : 80.8
Indian Female (Age 24)
I planned to apply to to some colleges last year itself, but due to less work experience, dropped the idea for a year. And now I would really like to join some college starting fall 2016.
In past one year, I have really grown as an individual in my team, got an opportunity to lead a team of 5-6 people for a new project, and we managed a successful release in a very short period of time. Got a lot of appreciation from my Managers and Client for the same. Also got an onsite opportunity of two months, travelling to Zurich for the same in August.
Could not retake the GMAT because got super busy with this project. So will have to apply with a 680. No other choice.
I plan to do an MBA in finance. There are some colleges which I have shortlisted : ISB, INSEAD, UCLA, CMU and NUS.
I would really like you to evaluate my profile and suggest me some good colleges as per my profile. Do you think ISB and INSEAD are way too far for my reach?

Hi Shristi,
Of all the schools you have mentioned in your post, you have the best shot at ISB (the caveat is that you submit your best application). At INSEAD, you would need to really bring out your leadership capabilities and global exposure, to have a shot. A two month stint, albeit short, may help to help build on the global experiences acquired from working in global teams/ with a global client.
Add some other b-schools like Kelley and Carlson to your target list.

Thanks for your profile information. One component I didn't see on there was your level of community involvement. Don't let this portion of your application slip as it will be critical on how you set yourself apart. Also, understanding your goals, both in the short and long term, will help narrow down school options based on fit. Based on the information you provided thus far, I would agree that INSEAD is a stretch and add UCLA to that list, while NUS, CMU, and ISB might be more aligned. At this stage, I'd recommend taking some time to reflect on your previous community involvement as well as identify what your goals are once you have an MBA in hand.
