Hi

I gave the GMAT(first attempt) last year,and scored a 680(Quant - 49, Verbal - 33).
I am planning to apply for MBA classes starting in fall 2016.

My profile reads as follows:

<<snip>>

I would really like you to evaluate my profile and suggest me some good colleges as per my profile. Do you think ISB and INSEAD are way too far for my reach?

Thanks in advance!

Srishti,

Consider the following points:
  1. How important is to apply this year? The reason I ask is because though you show a good arc in terms of leadership experience, the years of experience is also important. Read here for more.
  2. The GMAT is likely to be another hurdle given the pool you are up against. It will be also important to understand the nature of your experience though as well as the brand of your organization.
  3. In summary, another year, potentially with a GMAT re-take can do wonders to your chances. So unless a complete no-no, highly recommended. If not, I would recommend adding a few more within reach schools in the US.

Cheers,

Shrishti,

You are beginning to show promise - but there is stuff that will hold you back. Your GMAT is on the lower side for Indian candidates - especially at the schools that you've mentioned. You are (relatively) inexperienced as well.

If you want to apply this year - you might have to shoot lower. Another year of experience and a higher GMAT might put you in the reckoning for the schools that you've put down.

Regards,
Karthik

Hi

I gave the GMAT(first attempt) last year,and scored a 680(Quant - 49, Verbal - 33).
I am planning to apply for MBA classes starting in fall 2016.

My profile reads as follows:

GMAT 680
work ex : 28 months (Software Developer) [started working in March 2013]
Graduation : B.Tech(College Topper) - 77.7%
12th : 79.2%
10th : 80.8
Indian Female (Age 24)

I planned to apply to to some colleges last year itself, but due to less work experience, dropped the idea for a year. And now I would really like to join some college starting fall 2016.
In past one year, I have really grown as an individual in my team, got an opportunity to lead a team of 5-6 people for a new project, and we managed a successful release in a very short period of time. Got a lot of appreciation from my Managers and Client for the same. Also got an onsite opportunity of two months, travelling to Zurich for the same in August.

Could not retake the GMAT because got super busy with this project. So will have to apply with a 680. No other choice.
I plan to do an MBA in finance. There are some colleges which I have shortlisted : ISB, INSEAD, UCLA, CMU and NUS.

I would really like you to evaluate my profile and suggest me some good colleges as per my profile. Do you think ISB and INSEAD are way too far for my reach?

Thanks in advance!
