1) Work exp: 2.5 years of Big4 Audit. 2.5 years of Corporate Finance at a F100 (specifically Strategic Finance -- sort of a hybrid FP&A and Strategy group). Will have a total of 5 years at matriculation.
2) 760 GMAT (49Q, 47V)
3) Education: Large non/semi-target state university (think Penn State/Rutgers) class of 2010. BS in Accounting with a 3.5/4.0 GPA. GPA shows major upward trend, freshman year GPA was sub 3.0.
4) College EC's: Student Government President, President of cultural student organization, chaired student government election committee. Post-college EC's: Board member of a committee during my time at the Big4, volunteer at local mosque
5) Certifications: CPA
6) Target programs: Columbia, Wharton, Booth, Stern, Yale SOM, Northwestern, Dartmouth, (probably apply to 5 of these schools)
7) Plan to apply during the fall of 2014 (in like ~7-8 months) for R1 and R2
8) Post-MBA goals: IB or MC, not entirely sure yet, but leaning towards MC.
additional info: 25 year old Pakistani Male (will be 27 at matriculation). Child of Pakistani immigrants.

I feel you are competitive at all programs. I think the challenge for you will be to differentiate yourself from other Big4 candidates which you can do by talking about your Pakistani background (Pakis are underrepresented at all top schools). Also, make sure to visit schools this Spring and start making connections.

I also consider you a competitive and viable applicant to these schools. That said, they are always reaches, so your applications must clearly portray you as an appealing and distinctive individual – not just what you’ve done (at work and outside) but also why you want to pursue that career path and what you want to accomplish. Also, while I agree also that you should communicate a bit about your background, you also should show some reflection and insight about your work to date – and how it connects to your goals.
