I am currently a college senior looking to apply to deferred admissions. 2+2, Booth, etc.
Stats:
Top Public School studying Electrical Engineering (Cal, UCLA, etc.) and Music Minor
22, Asian American, Male
GPA: 3.495
GMAT: 700 (V38, Q47) - couldn't retake due to COVID-19, wrote on applications. I understand that this is low, but it's the only score that I got.
Work Experience:
2 summers interned at large semiconductor companies (Intel, Nvidia, etc.)
Will be in a Systems Engineering Rotation Program at a large defense company upon graduation (Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, etc.)
Extracurriculars:
Heavily involved in research as an undergrad with 3 Journal and 4 Conference Publications
Board Member of Undergraduate Business Club
IEEE Advanced Project
Goal of MBA:
Transition into a strategy role. Was put in charge of leading a research team -> realize im better suited for business rather than technical work.
Not sure how Yale will turn out due to Covid-19 since you will need to enroll directly.

Hi, your 700 GMAT is a very competitive score to the top schools for an American applicant. So, Focus on profile building with good essays and strong recommendations. All the best.

Hey there,
I would start off by telling you that you have a pretty good profile with a good amount of work experience and internships at Top companies and a fair GPA .Your GMAT score of 700 is not a deal breaker - I would advise you to take a retake and target a score of 730+ as the average GMAT score at your target schools is between 710-760.
However, if you are looking for an admit at Booth, Harvard, and Yale all having a 2+2 deferred MBA admissions you need to be heavily focused on the application essays as the same is needed to showcase your experiences which highlight the growth and impact they have had on you which are crucial for admittance in each school, as you will be competing with people who have similar backgrounds and experiences.
Lastly, have a solid plan for how you are planning to Utilize the 2 years before you start school and how you are planning to link it to your post MBA goals.
