Ayushi0311 To understand where you stand in terms of INSEAD suitability, you first need to know the criteria used to evaluate candidates. The most common ones are international focus (think extensive international work or travel experience), ability to contribute in class, leadership potential, and academic orientation. Some other, less spoken about but very important, parameters are employability post-MBA, outwardness, etc.

The information you have shared doesn’t tell me much about these parameters, but if you realize you could use another couple of years to seek more global opportunities and establish a clear takeoff point in your profile, I would strongly encourage that line of thought.

Feel free to speak one to one for a deeper understanding

Best wishes

Hi

I recently gave the GMAT FE and scored 655 (93 percentile) with the below break up (81 percentile in Quant, 86 percentile in verbal & 90 percentile in DI).
I will have 3 yrs of work ex by the time I apply for R1.
I am currently a part of a B4 consulting firm with 2 promotions over the last 2 years.
I got a good undergrad GPA of 9.1, 2 awards at my current firm, volunteering exp, was part of 2 societys in my undergrad.

What are my chances of getting into INSEAD with my current profile?

Ayushi0311 - some thoughts/ queries on your profile:

1. The undergrad GPA is good. Which university did you attend (tier-1, tier-2, etc.)?

2. The GMAT score is a bit on the lower side, unless the rest of the profile can overcompensate for it. For example, this candidate got into INSEAD w/ scholarship, with a 655 GFE

3. The big-4 brand and promotions are strong angles. Have you worked with teams/ clients abroad? INSEAD places an emphasis on 'international exposure' and any interactions with folks outside your country/ background (whether personal or professional) would help. A deeper understanding of your work-ex can help me assess this aspect.

4. What are your directional career goals post MBA? It'd be crucial to have a strong narrative covering your experiences so far, goals, and how/ why INSEAD fits in at this juncture.

5. Have you been involved in any extracurricular activities post undergrad?

Hope this helps a bit. Feel free to reach out for a deeper chat.

Regards,
Arvind

Additionally, highlight international exposure, leadership beyond work, and a clear post-MBA goal, INSEAD values candidates who can articulate how they will contribute to and benefit from its global network. Are you planning to retake the GMAT? If not, you shall focus on crafting a compelling story, strong essays, and exceptional recommendations that emphasize leadership, adaptability, and impact. Adding HEC Paris, IESE, and LBS as alternatives would also be strategic. You can take a look at this webinar.

If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a 1:1 call with you to learn more about your profile and provide a detailed evaluation. Please feel free to schedule a profile evaluation call according to your convenience.

Cheers!

jdiegoal99: Your profile has some strong angles, particularly the work-ex (PE/ finance experience, international exposure & promotions) and extracurriculars.

What's the sectional split of your GMAT? Any possibility to increase the score?

If you've started working on the applications or can dedicate good time, you could look at R2 for the Jan intake (INSEAD).

jdiegoal99 ! You’ve got a good profile, fast-track promotions, cross-border M&A deals, fintech + PE exposure, and leadership in both work and extracurriculars. INSEAD loves candidates with global experience and entrepreneurial ambitions, so your long-term search fund goal fits right in. Did you travel all 10+ or some countries? If yes, it would be a good plus for INSEAD. Talking about the GMAT, 645 FE is on the lower side for INSEAD, where the mid-80% range starts around 670+. Retaking and pushing it higher (20+ points) would make a difference. Your goals, MBB/T2 or a strategic GM role, make sense, but you’ll need to clearly connect the dots between where you are and where you want to go. Your essays should hammer home your leadership, impact, and adaptability across different markets. And don’t forget, strong, detailed LORs backing up your fast-tracked growth will be key.

What’s next? Crush the GMAT, refine your story, and keep owning your leadership narrative. INSEAD values risk-takers and global thinkers, just make sure they see all these things in your application.

If you'd like, we can discuss the details of your profile (challenges, impact, achievements, international experience and more). Please feel free to BOOK A PROFILE EVALUATION CALL. This is your chance to get guidance from those who have been in your shoes. Register now to secure your spot!

Hi jdiegoal99 happy to help you today!

For starters, you seem to have an appealing background story: an underrepresented nationality, an overcoming-the-odds type of situation, and a seemingly successful career growth progression. The mobility aspect also weighs in well with your relocation, and I am hoping you would have, in any case, worked with multinational stakeholders, as is the nature of your industry. So overall, very strong foundational elements to work with.
I would just add one bit here about your goals. Since you are looking for post-MBA opportunities in SEA and the ME, it would be nice to start sowing seeds and signaling your interest through your current connections in these geographies. Interview or have brief discussions with as many people as possible so you can understand and present proof of your research in the application itself, making your case even stronger. Insights from alumni discussions are the best talking material in the INSEAD application and interviews. INSEAD loves a good story, but it loves conscientious and strategic job seekers even more. :)
