Hi sagmaj , I hope you are doing well.

Your profile presents a good foundation for INSEAD with your engineering degree with a strong GPA and top department rank, 3.5+ years in management consulting with accelerated promotions, and good extracurriculars like founding a startup, co-founding a social venture, and Rotary Club involvement. Your GMAT Focus score of 685 is competitive for INSEAD, you shall focus on emphasizing your achievements, leadership, and US market consulting experience in your essays to stand out.

Your goal of transitioning into strategy consulting in the Middle East aligns well with INSEAD's strengths and alumni network. To further strengthen your application, showcase your international exposure, leadership roles, and impact on clients and communities. While your chances are promising, crafting compelling essays and obtaining strong recommendations will be critical to success.

INSEAD evaluates your potential based on the following criteria:
1. Ability to contribute
2. Leadership skills
3. International motivation
4. Academics

Your profile brings all of them, however, how you present it, will matter the most. You can read a success story of an AI Engineer working at a Healthcare startup, achieved a significant academic milestone by gaining acceptance into both INSEAD and HEC with an impressive 710 GMAT score. Overall, you have a good profile and a strong chance to INSEAD. You should also add more EU schools in your buck just to be on the safer side. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a 1:1 call with you to discuss your profile in detail and gauge your chances better. Feel free to schedule a profile evaluation call according to your convenience.

@sagmaj - some thoughts on your profile:

1. Your undergrad pedigree and GPA are strong. GMAT is fine too, but keep in mind that the Indian Male cohort is the most competitive, and thus a strong application (essays, interviews etc.) would be crucial to increase your chances.

2. The Work-ex presents some interesting angles given the consulting exposure, promotion and international clients. Aim to have a strong narrative covering your career goals, and how the MBA fits in at this juncture.

3. Extracurriculars seem alright, particularly the social venture. Have there been any involvement since undergrad?

sagmaj, couple of things beyond what's already shared.

  • Always good to expand your target school list and not target only one. Consider HEC for Jan'26 intake cycle too in this regard.
  • Rotary Club involvement can be good provided there is quantified impact you can showcase. Being a member is not enough to state - go deeper.

Do reach out on mcb@mbacrystalball.com with a recent resume to discuss further.
