Hi
meowth94,
Thank you for your post and for sharing your profile. Also, congrats on a 780 GMAT.
To be straightforward, you are on the young side of an MBA candidate, as typically universities require a minimum of 2 years of post-undergraduate full-time work experience to be eligible, and the average is 5. That said, students have been accepted into an MBA program with only 2 years of work experience. Successful candidates have been able to demonstrate their need for an MBA at that early stage in their career development. Can you share a bit more about why an MBA and why now?
I am happy to coordinate a call to discuss offline. If interested, I recommend you take advantage of our

Hi guys, I'm a little confused as to whether I should apply to an MiM programme or an MBA programme because I'm unsure as to whether I fulfill all the eligibility criteria for the latter. For the MBA programme, so far I've shortlisted NYU Stern, Cornell, and Columbia (I'm still in the process of researching tbh) because they didn't explicitly specify any work experience.
My profile:
Nationality: Indian
Gender: Female
Age: 24
GMAT: 780
IELTS: 8.5 (Unsure if I should take TOEFL as well)
Education
Dual-degree Integrated Bachelor in Laws & Bachelor in Humanities [B.A., LL.B (Honours)] from the currently ranked #1 national law school in India. We follow the CGPA system, and I honestly don't know how to convert my grades to the US equivalent. In terms of percentage though, it's somewhere around 69%. I definitely did not graduate at the top of my class or even anywhere remotely near the top, and this is probably the biggest drawback of my entire application. I could maybe try to convince the admissions dept. that it's a very selective, competitive programme (which isn't untrue because in order to get into my uni, there's this national law admission test that has to be taken and only ranks below 100 out of around 60,000 applicants will be given admission). I was also selected to go on exchange to a pretty good university in Sydney, Australia (where I got a perfect 4.0 GPA). I also recently started an online post-grad certification programme in finance.
Also, if high school grades matter: Class 10 (10/10 CGPA); Class 12 (88%)
Work-Exp: 2 years by the time (and if) I start an MBA programme in 2020. I graduated in April, 2018 and have been working with the govt. as an assistant project coordinator + a legal & policy research analyst. Without disclosing too much, it involves a lot of coordinating government programmes and schemes, reviewing contracts wrt public procurement of assets etc.
Internships: I have a very diverse & broad range of internships - 1 law firm internship, 2 policy research internships (one with a government organisation and the other with an NGO), 1 Supreme Court internship (under a judge); 1 State Bank internship; 1 with a senior advocate at a High Court; 1 Apprenticeship with a judge.
Research projects: As part of our curriculum, we're supposed to present at-least one research project/paper every semester, and since we've got 10 semesters, I've got about 10+ of them.
Publications: None
Co-curriculars: All of them are pretty generic to be honest. A member of a bunch of clubs like the photography club, debating club etc. and part of the organising committee (which isn't anything special) for a few national-level moots and inter-parliamentary debates. But, that's about it.
Extra-curriculars: I'm super passionate about sustainable development, so I've done a lot in that field. I've volunteered and held leadership roles at a lot of state level government organisations and NGOs that promote biodiversity and sustainable change. I've also represented India at a youth international conference in another country relating to the promotion of United Nations SDGs. I also care a lot about education and I'm currently also an assistant faculty at at an NGO that helps educate underprivileged children. In the past, I've participated in a cultural exchange global volunteer programme where I taught elementary and high school students in Italy and Greece.
Honestly, that's all I can really think of at the moment.
Sooo with my profile, if I end up applying to MBA programmes at the B-schools I'd listed above, would it be a total crapshoot? Should I just apply to MiM programmes and if so, would I qualify for the top ones?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
