Hello Everyone,
I hope you all are doing well. I am a bit confused and would really appreciate all your help, in making my decision on what should my next steps be. My profile is as follows:
1. University - Private Social Science School in India (The university has received the highest grade 'A' of the National Accreditation & Assessment Council (NAAC))
2. Degree - BA (Hons) Economics Fall 2019 graduate (3 year program, a pure social science and research based degree with high focus on quantitative subjects like econometrics, statististics etc)
3. Internship - I have 2 internship experiences, one in the marketing department and one in management
4. Work Experience - I started my own social impact organisation in March 2020 and leading a team of around 20 people and I recently starting working as a management trainee with an IT start up.
5. Test Scores - GRE : 154Q 155V
GMAT : 590 39Q 32V
I am aiming for MIM programs with electives/minor in social impact, marketing and human behaviour, after the masters I hope I want to work in the intersection of human behaviour, culture, business and marketing preferably at a consulting firm. I am hopping to apply for the following programs:
1. St Gallen University
1) SIM program (Strategy and International Management)
2) MIMM program (Masters in Marketing Management)
2. WHU Germany
1) MIM program
3. Stockholm School of Economics
1) MSc in International Business
4. HEC Paris
1) Masters in Management Grande Ecole (2 year program)
2) Masters in Sustainability and Social Innovation
I would like to know what are my chances of getting in the above mentioned universities (I know my scores are very low for HEC Paris but I want to give it a try) and also wanted to know should I report my GMAT scores or GRE scores to the universities. When I converted my GRE scores to GMAT according to the official convertor by ETS my scores gets converted to GMAT 540 which is lower than my original GMAT score of 590 but according to percentiles provided by GMAC and ETS I have a higher percentile in GRE which is as follows:
GMAT - V32 (66 percentile)
Q39 (33 percentile)
Total 590 (51 percentile)
GRE - V155 (67 percentile)
Q154 (51 percentile)
I have read a couple of articles and they said that there is no perfect way to convert you GRE scores to GMAT or vice versa because of multiple factors like the question type, exam pattern, the type of students who write the exams etc, but I would like to know my chances of getting in the above mentioned universities and which score should I sent to the universities, and also if there is some other universities I can look at which will suit my profile.
Thank you for taking your time to reading this and eagerly waiting for all of your responses.
I would retake the GMAT and try and improve your quant. I know SSE has a GMAT minimum of 600 for your application to be considered (and their average accepted score is around 690). HEC Paris doesn't have a minimum but their average score is also 690. WHU has a suggested minimum of 600 also. St Gallen might be most likely with your 590- their average is around 630/640. Keep in mind these programs have averages in the mid to high 600 range for their GMAT and your score is currently pretty far outside of that. I would study for the GMAT for a few months and re-take, aiming for at least a 650. Also- with your interests, the Business and Management program at SSE might be more up your alley than International Business, since it has marketing components.
