Origin:
Mixed Male British. 25yrs old (26 at matriculation).
Education:
Upper 2nd from good (top 15 & Russell Group) UK university
Gmat:
690 (Q48,V36) - only done it once, might retake before January applications (would appreciate feedback here).
W/E:
Famous tech firm (think Goog/Amzn/FB) for 2 years in graduate finance scheme. Did lots of good stuff.
Left to join a successful British 'startup' as a Business Analyst - now floated and has a market cap of ~$1Bn. Been taking on lots of Product Management stuff, hopeful to get promoted in next 6 months to a PM.
Ex/C:
Been a school Governor for a year (not much to say here actually - the school was pretty well run).
Spent significant amount of time in SE Asia. Born there and Dad lives there. Lived in China & Thailand alone for a month apiece. Quite international outlook.
Member of many sports teams at University, was College Rugby President, College Table Tennis Captain. Currently playing for the LBS Alumni (and friends) football team. Played County (regional) chess as a junior & still very much into Board Games as a hobby.
Target Schools:
London Business School (top choice).
Considering Insead/Said/Cambridge Judge.
Motivation:
I want to make the step up from BA to head of strategy at a semi-mature startup. UK is a startup hotbed right now, so keen to stay in the UK.
Backup plan is to use my experience in modern, dense, urban life (in SE Asia) and Tech to create a startup for the city that London is rapidly becoming (densely populated, more flats, etc).
LBS is my top choice because of it's awesome placement, and the seminar-groups & clubs means that I'll be able to interact so much more with my classmates and develop a broader sense of learning. Also, the flexible ending times will allow me to pounce if the perfect startup opportunity arises.
