Started online retail store in college (>$200K revenue in year), not sure if counts as work experience or extracurricular

GMAT: 
740 (97%) Q 50 (89%) V 41 (93%) IR 8, have not received AWA score yet

College: 
3.5 GPA from bottom of top 20
Economics/Math Major 2013 grad

Extra-curriculars: 
Started a multicultural fraternity in college, not sure what my big post college extra curricular will be yet

Target Programs: 
Harvard, Stanford, Kellogg, Haas, Fuqua, Ross, Goizueta, Wharton, Tuck

When to Apply: 
R1 2015

Post-MBA Goal: 
Marketing/Strategy at Fashion or Consumer Electronics Company or MBB

Solid stats. You'll have around 3 years of experience by the time you matriculate so I think you'll be fine there. If you can add a solid extracurric then I think it'll just come down to execution for you.

What do you think about Harvard & Stanford especially? Do I have a shot at all?

I think so. But you need that "umph." I think if you can add that extracurric, it could be there. I'm a relative neophyte to this process so others can offer better guidance. Bottom line: people with great GMATs, GPAs, and pedigrees get rejected from all these top schools (and especially H&S) every day. I think it will come down to your message, brand, and execution on essays and recs. The great part for you is that your gpa and gmat are on track. now it will come down to your softs, which you have complete control over. you have time to think about how you want to project yourself on your apps, so no worries there. ball is in your court.

Yes I agree--it's not hard for a qualified applicant to get rejected from the top schools. Make sure you apply to several, especially with only two years of work experience when you apply. Frankly, the top 10 will generally balk at only two years under the belt unless it's with a top 5 banking firm or something similar. Seek leadership opportunities both at work and in your community activities. The top schools look for demonstrated leadership and impact on organizations because it means you will likely impact their school as well as your industry when you graduate. Build a story and speak to why you like what you do and how it is preparing you for your post MBA vision. B-schools love to see passion, so do interesting things, but do things that really light your fire and be able to say why.

Would you advise I have 4 years work experience at matriculation then?

Four years at the time of application is even better, since schools will count the experience between the application and matriculation. If it's 4 years at application and five at matriculation, that will put you right in the average number and will best demonstrate the real value that you bring to the classroom from your time in the "real world."
