Hey guys I was wondering if I could have some advice on my profile below. I'm strongly considering applying to full time programs this year but I'm on the low end of work experience and would wait a year to apply if necessary.
Background: 24 yo Caucasian male from the midwest.
Undergrad: Attended a large state school and majored in Chemical Engineering.
GPA: 3.97/4.00
GMAT: 760 (49Q/44V)
Extracurriculars: Honestly I have so many extracurriculars from college I don't even want to name them all on here. Some notable ones include being co-president of an organization that raised over 100k for St. Jude and I was co-president of another organization that raised over 100k for Special Olympics. On top of that I was president/vice president of a number of other academic and fraternity related organizations. After graduation I spent 2 months volunteering on a farm that trains sled dogs in Sweden. Once I started full time work I became very involved with a lot of "work-related" extracurriculars such as leading my plant's new engineer development program, serving on our employee wellness committee, and participating in university recruiting. In addition I play hockey 1-2 times a week if anyone cares about that:)
Work Experience: I have worked full time as project engineer in a renewable energy field for a very large company for two years now. In addition, I "interned" with the same company for 8 full months which I would say was closer to a full time work experience than an internship but I'm not sure if schools will care too much about that
Post-MBA Goals: I have a huge passion for renewable technologies and would love to get a corporate finance position at an industry that deals with such.
Schools I'm really interested in attending include Booth, Kellog, Tuck, and Fuqua but honestly I have nothing against any top 15 program at the moment and would be willing to broaden my application pool but the latter 4 really stood out to me.
Thank you so much for your input! If you have any other questions about my profile I would be more than happy to elaborate.
Hey dude,
Great to hear from you!
I like how you write you have little ECS, and then go on to tell me how you helped raise 200K
You have plenty of good stuff in your profile, not least of which are your fantastic GMAT and your equally excellent GPA.
I don't see any reason under the sun for you not to apply to Top 10 programs, although you could also look at Haas, Rice, and McCombs due to their good energy programs/recruiting (you know as safe schools, at least the Texan schools).
Juct ace those applications, and you should be golden,
Best,
JF
