Hi, and thanks for writing! To answer your question - your AWA is fine. Anything above a 4.0 passes the test - beyond this, schools don't take it into account, especially not for native English speakers. However, given your demographic and the competitiveness of the schools you're targeting, it would be ideal if you could get an overall GMAT score of 720+. Are you considering retaking?
I think your work experience is strong, and your extracurriculars are solid as well. Regarding your career goals - though these may change once you're in school, you want to present a confident and realistic path to the AdCom. It might make sense for management consulting to be your short term-goal (and the focus as you describe it is fine), with strategy/ops in a senior capacity within a tech company as your longer-term goal.
I hope that helps a bit! I'd love to discuss your profile in more detail with you and give you some more tips on how to put your best foot forward; if you're interested, you can sign up for a free 30-min consultation with me here:

Hello and thank you for your assistance in reviewing my profile and identifying any strengths, weakness and other problem areas.
Below are my stats and plans for B-School:
- 700 GMAT (46Q/40V/8IR/4.5AWA) -- Is the AWA too low? I scored a 630 on my first attempt and had a 5.5 on the AWA.
- 3.56 GPA (3.9 major GPA - but I don't think this is reported anywhere)
- Undergraduate degrees in (1) Finance and (2) Corporate Reporting & Financial Statement Analysis from Boston College
- Work experience includes 6 years (will be 7 when leaving for b-school); MM Investment Banking (3 years), Large CPG (<1 year), and a technology e-commerce start up focusing on operations & strategy (2-3 years), which I joined prior to Series A funding
- Extracurriculars: I don't have too many since undergrad, but was heavily involved at BC. Presently, I am on the junior board of a hospital, spend significant time helping new employees understand the industry landscape and regulations at my current company, and I also run a book club at the office.
- My short-term goal changes from day to day. I'm between joining a top tier consulting firm with a focus on helping companies improve operational inefficiencies (not sure if this is too niche) or going back into a more senior strategy & ops role at a tech company.
- My long-term goal is to be a COO or CSO at a technology company
- Age: 28 (29 at enrollment)
- White
- US born, dual European citizenship
- Male
Target Schools:
R1: GSB, HBS, Kellogg, Booth
R2: Haas, Sloan
