Hi,
Kind Request for a profile check and suggestions on B-schools (interested in ivy league colleges).
Profile Snapshot:
-Have dual degrees in Mechanical Engineering (B.E Mechanical- 3.6 GPA, Visveswaraya Technological University) and Law (LL.B-3.5 GPA, University of Delhi). Post MBA, will someday get my PhD as well. The area of research would be "Understanding the effect of political will on societal demographics and the ensuing effects and interactions with industry/companies and the financial markets. Want to rationalize the irrational exuberance meaningfully." Would be dealing with Jurisprudence/Political sciences, Management and Finance. My law and MBA (future) degrees will help me in that.
-a total of seven (7) years of work experience in development sector consulting with two of the worlds largest environment consulting firms (AECOM and ERM). Have worked with agencies including the the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Governments, private equity firms, other bi-lateral and multilateral institutional agencies.
-the role involves dealing with and utilizing multiple disciplines and subject areas including management, finance, sociology, economics, engineering and law.
-GMAT yet to give. Will score 700+ though.
-traveled and worked extensively across India, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Tanzania
-avid photographer and endurance driver (passionate cross country driver.
-finance would be the area of specialization. will study for the CFA charter as well during the program. dream of starting and managing my own holding company (idolize warren buffet, ben graham and charlie munger)
-will need scholarship

Hi AM,
My foremost suggestion is to not sound like a degree/ certificate collector. You are an engineer and a lawyer, and you have talked about getting an MBA, a PhD and a CFA, and eventually you wish to become an entrepreneur. Do note that you would come across as "confused" to the adcom, and that would not bode too well for you.
An MBA or any other educational degree for that matter is only a means to an end. Its not the end in itself. Think of what you wish to be doing professionally 5 years from now, 10 years from now? Which degree (if at all) will help you get there? That's the one you should be pursuing, and no other.
I'd also add that when framing your career goals, don't mention the PhD as a short term goal. It seems to me reading your post that you can, and therefore the mention. That will again make the adcom think whether you understand your career path too well.

You seem to be an interesting person, and someone I would definitely like to network with. With the right set of goals, you would be a star candidate for several top schools. Good GMAT required as well.
However - I believe you need a bit more focus.
While your desire for scholarship is commendable, you will need to be able to discuss relevant post-MBA goals, and explain how an MBA will help you with that. Looking at the MBA as a precursor to a PhD program doesn't seem to be the most direct route to me. Consider a Masters, instead?
I would also think it is important to analyse how knowledge of finance is going to help you with your future goals in the applied sense. Again, your PhD goal probably needs a Masters in Economics/Developmental Finance etc. An MBA is more for practitioners.
I'm also wary of applicants who say they want to study finance when they don't have prior exposure to finance. Finance is a highly sought after post-MBA goal and as such it is difficult to break into unless your pre-MBA experience is also in the finance sector.
All in all, I think you are an interesting person. But with regards to your educational outcomes - you need to put in some thought before moving forward.
