Hello

You have shown good leadership and growth in your 6 years of work. You carry a diverse profile with a B.tech in food technology, which will separate you from the Indian engineering IT cohort. Your education arc looks fine. As your GMAT 585 is equivalent to a 630 classic score, you can still apply to ISB and IIMs as their recent class has candidates with a GMAT range from 600-780.

However, applying with a good GMAT score ie 700+ or 676 FE score is suggested. While considering the other aspects of your profile, you are still eligible to apply to the above-mentioned executive programs; though it would be competitive.

Talk to our Indian B schools Alumni to get guidance to proceed with applications.

Hi Everyone

Wanted to take some feedback as I am diving into my B school application journey. Hope Ican get some feedback on my chances to make it into some of the top b schools in India: ISB, IIM A, B, C & L for their executive MBA programs.

A quick overview of my profile:

Gmat Focus Score: 585
Btech in Food Technology from NIFTEM: CGPA 7.6
12th: 83.4%
10th: 9.4 CGPA

Work Experience: 6+ years as a manager and head brewer for one the top Alco Bev companies

  • I am a passionate craft brewer with over 6 years of experience, currently serving as the Manager and Head Brewer at one of the largest alcoholic beverage firms in the world, where I lead a team of three in a microbrewery chain in India.
  • My journey began with a very short role in sales, followed by hands-on roles in brewing, where I honed my skills in production and quality control, leading to successful product launches.
  • Have secured some promotions along the way which led me to my current role of leading a microbrewery and also involves the role of a common POC between two MNCs in a JV.
  • I also contributed to community development through a Village Adoption Program during my undergraduate studies, where I helped identify farmers' challenges and implemented solutions such as Self-Help Groups and innovative packaging to eliminate middlemen.
  • My goal is to further enhance my strategic and leadership capabilities through an MBA, aiming to drive innovation and sustainability in the brewing industry.

Would be happy to receive any feedback. Thank you for your time.
Cheers!

Hi,

That's a very well differentiated profile. You come from an under represented industry which should help you stand apart. Coming to your role- what does it entail? Are you responsible for the business side with revenue/ cost reduction targets? That would further add to your profile. Even the direct connect with the two JVs (kind of figured this out) would be a plus point.

I do wish that you apply with a better GMAT score. Your current score is going to be iffy- and if things don't work out- it will be a year gone before you can reapply. So my suggestion would be to retake with the aim of getting a ~700 score.
