Hi,

I am a 26 years old Consultant with one of the Big Four Companies with 5 years of experience in ERP Consulting. My work is most technical and has less client exposure. I have given GMAT twice till now and my scores are 620 and 640. I am planning to give the exam again before June (with time off this time!! ) so that I can apply for R1. I have a good record in co-curricular activities from school and college.

I need advice on the following:

1. Does anyone have any idea about the fellowship programs and has applied for it?
2. With the current political atmosphere, is it wise to apply to colleges in the USA, UK, Australia and Singapore?
3. Is there a way to get international experience apart from work.

Thanks in advance!

Hey there,
And good to hear from you!

Let's start with your questions:

1. PhD fellowships? If you mean scholarships, all MBA programs offer them. Full scholarships are very rare.
2. Yes.
3. When schools say "international experience" they mean work. Traveling is nice and fun, but isn't all that relevant

Now, I'd LOVE to help you out and get down with your profile.

The thing is I am missing detail.

I need a LOT more info from you - school name, employer name, titles, promotions, greatest achievements, volunteer work, sports, community service, religious involvement, leadership.. etc. before I can give you a real evaluation.

It will also be very helpful if you can elaborate upon your goals.

Have a look at some of the other very detailed profile requests on this board and do something similar and I'll be happy to get back to you.

Best,
JF

I hope this helps! And feel free to drop us a line for a free consultation.

It sounds like you're in a great position with 5 years of experience in ERP consulting and are looking to expand your horizons by applying for an MBA program. Here are some thoughts to address your questions:
  1. Fellowship Programs: Many top MBA programs offer fellowships for candidates with strong academic backgrounds or significant professional experience. With your ERP consulting experience, especially with one of the Big Four, you could be a strong candidate for fellowships that target professionals from technical backgrounds. Fellowships often look for leadership potential and unique industry insights, which you can highlight through your ERP work. Research specific programs like the Fulbright Fellowship (for study in the US) or school-specific options like Stanford's Knight-Hennessy Scholars or the Chevening Scholarship in the UK.
  2. Political Climate: It's true that the political environment can impact visa policies and post-graduate opportunities, especially in the US. However, top MBA programs in the US, UK, Australia, and Singapore continue to attract international students, and many offer strong global networks that can help you navigate job markets despite political changes. Singapore, in particular, might offer more stability given its strong business climate in Asia and ties to global markets.
  3. International Experience Outside of Work: You can consider international volunteering or short-term study programs, which are often offered by universities or global organizations. Participating in international case competitions, conferences, or even taking ERP-related courses abroad (or with global focus) could also give you a broader perspective. Odoo, for instance, is used internationally, and consulting projects for its implementation in various regions could help you build global experience even if your current role is more technical.
As you prepare for your MBA, consider how your ERP background could uniquely position you, especially as businesses increasingly focus on digital transformation. Highlight how you’ve contributed to successful ERP projects and show how you’re ready to take on leadership roles in the future. Best of luck with your GMAT prep and applications!
