Hi Team,
I would really appreciate if you could review my profile and suggest feedback on chances for my priority schools and suggest more schools based on my post MBA goals.
· Demographics (nationality, gender): Indian, Male
· Education (undergraduate institution, GPA, major - high school/entrance exams not needed): Top 10 Engineering colleges - BITS Pilani, CGPA - 6.61/10, Major - Dual Degree (MS Physics and BS Electronics Engineering)
· Other coursework or post-undergraduate education: Some Wallstreetprep and coding courses on edX.
· GMAT or GRE (include section breakdown): GMAT 660 (Q49, V31, AWA 5.5 IR 8) | GRE 325 (Q168, V157) | Moved to GRE as I was stuck at GMAT 660 despite of 4 attempts. I am thinking of applying only with GRE score.
· Work experience (highlight amount of work experience, industries, roles, promotions, special accomplishments, international exposure): 6.5 years
1. I have always been a tech enhusiast. Started my career as a tech entrepreneur with my own startup and built a team of 3. However as things couldn't work out on the business front, I decided to take this more as an experiential effort than a full-fledged business effort.
2. Worked for 3 years, in a leadership role at a data startup in India, providing consultation and deal sourcing support to technology focused venture capital firms in the early stage. Got promoted twice and led a team of 5 analysts. Grew the department's business 4X over a period of 2.5 years.
3. Wanted to graduate into an investment professional role and hence moved to a social impact investment initiative, providing grant investments to healthcare focused social enterprises in India. Closed 4 transactions here.
4. Came in touch with a healthcare focused venture capital fund which offered a full fledged investment role. Hence joined here as a junior investment professional and now working here since 1.5 years. Over the period have made two Series A investments in Healthtech enterprises and managing a portfolio of 3 companies providing strategic thought leadership and business development support.
· Extracurricular activities (highlight notable undergraduate and post-undergraduate ones): Was President of the entrepreneurship club at undergraduate university, responsible for its P&L. During the role, organized many activities to support on-campus student run startups connect with investors and mentors.
· Post-MBA goals: Short / Medium term goal (5-10 years) Work as a product manager at a high growth (preferably pre-IPO) tech company based in US, to build a strong experience working at the intersection of technology, management and business development; Long term goal (>10yrs): Either lead the tech company as a CEO or shift back to tech-focused venture capital investing and portfolio management at a senior leadership position.
· Target schools: MIT Sloan, CMU Tepper, Berkeley Haas
· Other information relevant to your profile: CGPA might appear low, but undergraduate college was extremely rigorous, especially for the dual degree students like myself where the second degree tends to drag down the CGPA. Moreover, a little mismanagement of bandwidth on extra-curricular activity also added to the drag on the CGPA. Also had a 1 year gap post my entrepreneurial effort, during which I was involved in some family related agricultural land dispute.
· Any specific questions you would like answered by our team: Chances for priority schools, any suggestions on more schools that I should add considering my profile and goals.
