I'm trying to get a sense of my competitiveness for top 15 (Duke, UVA, Cornell, SOM, Tuck) and even an m7 program or two (Columbia/Kellogg).
26 year old male, caucasian, first generation college student from USA
5 years of impactful work at a fortune 50 beverage (cpg) company. (You drink or see their products every day & arguably the biggest marketing/brand in the world).
- multiple jobs: frontline operations, supply chain strategy, demand planning, and now sales strategy (consumer insights)
- Working in supply chain (supervised 18 hourly employees at 23 years old)
- Experience presenting to and working with executives
- Experience in consumer insights
- Experience presenting to clients
- Helped lead our SVPs third biggest priority for the year. My work on the project has documented millions (tens of millions) in additional topline growth for the company. The executive who sponsors the project (even though I'm the one actually doing it) will be writing my rec letter.
3.62 GPA in business applied statistics from the University of Tennessee
605 and 615 on GFE. I will be sending in both scores. My original score on the gmat was a 430. I spent over a year and 1000 hours to raise my score over 250 points (because 615 equates to a 680). I will be writing about this on my apps.
I'm a very social and outgoing person. Having experience in managing client relationships, serving as an ambassador for my undergrad business schools "representative" to lead tours and represent the school at events like gala's etc. AKA if I make it to the interview and I prep I don't feel like I'll have a problem. I definitely can pass an "airport" test.
I also have a lot of hobbies, hiking fishing, camping, tennis, roadbiking races, study german (and am pretty good), I perform live sometimes (guitar) at some bars etc.
I want to pivot out of CPG consumer insights and enter either a) strategy consulting, particularly M&A consulting or b) do work in the renewables sector either in consulting or more likely via financial services (think fundraising, putting together deals, etc).
I know the weakpoint would be my GFE but like I said earlier, I spent a very long time getting to where I am. Unless moving it up 20 points will make a big difference, my score will not be changing that much. I have already sacrificed a year of my life to the exam. I would like to know if you have any recommendations for helping with my score or if it will severely hurt my chances.
Thank you!
