AA Male, 27 upon matriculation with 6 years of WE (4 pre undergrad, 2 post grad).

735 GFE, Western governors University graduate ( Finished entire bachelors in 2 months in summer of 2024) No GPA since School has Pass fail system with pass equating to 3.0 or higher
Pre UG WE - 3 years as process operator in semiconductor manufacturing at f1000 company and 1 year as process operator and one of the most well known aerospace company in the world.
Post UG WE - 2 Years upon matriculation as a manager in operations at a FAANG with 1 promotion.
Looking for honest feedback, Thank you.
Hi blackpanther90,

You have a strong profile with a 735 GMAT and 6 years of solid work experience, including leadership at a FAANG company. Your background in semiconductor manufacturing and aerospace adds great industry depth.

The accelerated WGU degree and pass/fail grading are unusual and may raise questions, so be ready to clearly explain your academic rigor and highlight your GMAT and any relevant projects or certifications.

Focus your essays on leadership, impact, and career goals, and choose recommenders who can speak to your growth and potential.
Overall, your profile is competitive for Sloan, Wharton, and CBS, but strong storytelling around your academic journey will be key.

I guess there is a strong personal story behind 4 years pre-undergrad experience as most people tend to finish undergrad first and then start working. You should once check with b-schools whether they will count this as FT experience; alternatively you can apply to b-schools that take it as 6 years' work experience (i.e. if some of them say they take only post grad work experience into account).

I am more concerned about the lack of GPA as that's a requirement in every application. Again, something you will need to get clarity on from your target b-schools.

Otherwise, your work experience looks good, although it will help to know more details about exactly what you do and your achievements.

I talked to my target programs and they said it will be considered from contribution perspective but they will officially count 2 years of WE. AFAIK the only schools that will count 6 years of my work experience are HSW which I'm not applying to

1. The gist of it is that I was in a line of work i was happy with and didn't require a degree but realized I wanted more. WE was full time and niche
2. WGU is a competency model so as long as you can pass an an objective assessment, you can advance as quickly as possible. I ended up finishing all 120 credits in 2 months as a result. The school does not issue GPA and only have a pass/fail system where a pass in 3.0 or higher. I have found 3 alums in t15 with 1 that ended up being waitlisted at a competitive t10. No M7 though
3. Function is in logistics ops. I have a flagship project that saved company 8 mil yearly that is financed verified along with minor projects
4. They will consider it as far as how I will contribute but will only count 2 years of WE post undergrad

blackpanther90 - well done on the GMAT! some thoughts and clarifications:

1. Reg. your pre-undergrad work-ex, were these full time employment/ roles, and what was the rationale behind working first and doing an UG thereafter?

2. Reg. the UG pedigree, what was the rationale to complete it within 2 months, and is the 'no GPA' the norm for the school/ broader university? Also, any precedence of your UG alum in your target programs?

3. What was the nature of your roles, particularly post undergrad i.e. functions, key projects/ achievements, etc.?

4. What's the motivation for an MBA, and what are your directional post-MBA goals? This, along with other factors such as will help in prioritizing the right school mix.

5. Have you spoken to your target program(s) to check if they count your pre-UG experience? Average work-ex and age at top MBA programs are FYI

Hope this helps. Feel free to reach out for a deeper discussion.
