Hi!
Profile review please! For HSW, Columbia, R2, Stern (safety) R3. Already submitted but would love thoughts on whether I have a decent shot.
Specs: Late 20s, Female, Straight, Black
GRE: 316 161v 155q (I know it's bad. My profile's weak spot. But I couldn't get it higher due to work stress and another stressor right before my final attempt, but I discussed it in my optional essay and pointed to A grades in my undergrad and masters in Finance, Economics, Stats courses etc.) Will my soft quant undergrad counteract this?
GPA: International equivalent to 4.0 for undergrad (business + finance). MS in innovation management (3.7) - studied abroad 4 times.
ECs and volunteering: All leadership positions and focused around education equity - mentoring, hosting careers events, college society VPs, committees / advisory board member, study abroad. Post-college: Planned and hosted events in the Google office with 100+ people, TEDx talks.
International: (AND Black). Citizenship of Caribbean country and European country (both very underrepresented). Does being Black help even though I'm not from the US? Who would my competition be?
Experience: 2 years PMM at Google (work in racial equity and education), 3 years of previous experience (5 total), including as a crisis analyst. One promotion pre-Google (via company move), and ran a side hustle consulting big name clients including global top 10 college. Side hustle has been featured in Forbes, Business Insider etc.
Essays / story: My story focuses around how education was always traditional for me growing up (pressure to get a degree etc.) but I've learned that for my community, there are more efficient models to create economic opportunity that I'd like to build. Current work in marketing is limited to promotion of existing products. Stratops would give me the ability to build and fund products and programs in the space. Pointed to examples of doing this in my current role to gain some initial experience.
Recs: Really good rec from former agency client, senior director at the company. Second rec from Google colleague.
Goals: I want to go to a startup doing StratOps after...and then become a cofounder.
