Hi there,
I am looking for some guidance for my application to the adcom. I am expecting to apply for 2017 intakes so I still have a bit of time, and going in the good direction until then would definitely help !
My career goals are not about a specific job title, I am just specifically focus on the tech industry and especially towards companies with a strong product acumen (let's say Google, Uber, Facebook, etc). I would love to take a chance in tech VC firm, but a fallback as product manager / business-operations manager in a top tier tech company would be fine too.
Therefore I am mainly targeting Stanford GBS, INSEAD (+Wharton exchange) and MIT.
General profile
Male, french, 26 (expecting to be 28/29 max at matriculation)
Fluent in french and english
GMAT : to be done
Academic background
* MSc in Engineering / Computer Sciences. (2006-2012)
From a tier A french engineering school. Regular engineering program equivalent to a US MSc.
GPA : 13.69/20, granted a 3.9 GPA certificate by the dean.
* MSc in Engineering / Computer Sciences (2010-2011)
1-year double diploma, tier A french business school.
GPA : 15.3/20
* MS in Marketing
1-year advanced master, HEC Paris, leading french/european business school
GPA : 3.62/4
Professional background
* (2015-x)
Lead product manager, World Economic Forum (Geneva)
To be started quite soon, decided to go there for leadership opportunities (building a product from almost scratches), exposure to some brilliant minds and international outlooks.

Senior consultant in a leading boutique technology consulting firm in Switzerland led by former McKinsey partners
Core responsibilities included product management for one of our spin-off (notably mobile portfolio management) and various tasks at the mother boutique itself : presales, innovation, engineering Proof of Concepts, call for tenders, etc)

Prior to that, before fully graduating, I have done a few internships (telco operatos), got involved in a few startups for product/consulting tasks (some raised 8 Mo as rund A), and had my own small business as a student (developed mobile solutions for the real estate industry, and tinkering

Not so many things, I have been involved in a band, touring in cities. Was involved in extra-scholar activities at school but never in a major role.
What are my chances and how should I improve them ?

Hey there pal,
Thanks so much for the post! So it's really hard to talk about chances for one (really BIG) reason - you haven't taken the GMAT. So instead, let's talk about what I like, what concerns me, and what I think you need to work on:
What I like: you've done well in school, you've been in a client facing role for a small, but well known firm, and you've taken a new role with a focus on scope and impact.
What concerns me: you seem to be (on the surface) a degree collector. You have a lot of them! You've done well, but my natural question as the adcom would be "so...why another 3 letters?" The second point is your lack of involvement. Nothing here at all. That's a huge red flag.
So what should you work on? First off, take that GMAT. You have another 12 - 15 months before you apply so if you end up needing to retake it, you'll have time. You have the time, so make sure you crush it! Secondly, get involved in something. At this point, anything is better than nothing. But better than that, think about what you've been passionate about in the past and try to extend that. Think about your story. If someone asked you why you joined activity X, think about what a compelling reason would be. And once you do get involved, find ways to add value. So don't just volunteer. Help them do Y better or set up Z. Go beyond just "I spend a few hours a week at this generic activity". That won't impress anyone.
Then, once you do those two things, and a year has passed, THEN we can talk about schools and chances. Make sense?

First of all, thanks a lot of your time and consideration.
I completely agree on the fact that the GMAT remains a main factor at that time.
Considering the various degrees I have, it's kind of true, I have to build some story telling there.
Regarding my profile and EC; I could say :
* I am an open-source contributor to DMaths, a macro editor for OpenOffice widely used in Europe and notably by the French Education System (this is originally a family held project)
* At school; I have co-organized our annual trip, bringing my prom of 70 people to Shanghai, and setting up meeting there with numerous companies (LVMH, Ubisoft, L'Oreal, Google)
* I have some personal strong interests in food and wine (hey, I am french!) as well interior design so could discuss a lot about it, but no real leadership there
* I do practice sport, aka footing, soccer, and former english boxing competitor
But not sure how it would fit on a resume without looking like "I am trying to fill the blank there". What do you think ?
Also, I could join the Global shapers initiative from the world economic forum (I already have a foot in here), which is a kind of networking community for young leaders below 30. That's something I have been thinking about for a while.
