Hi, Please review my profile for the Jan intake:

24M, I will be 25 at matriculation.
Indian with a green card living in USA.
Raised and did high school in Africa.
655 GMAT FE.
Undergrad was computer science engineer at University of Michigan, GPA 3.2
2.5 YOE at Google as a software dev.

My goal is MBA at M7. Is this feasible? If not, would increasing my gmat score make it possible?
Thanks
Hi an1rudhg ! I hope you are doing well.

Your profile has unique aspects, like being raised in Africa and working at Google, which can add diversity to your application. However, a 655 GMAT score and a 3.2 GPA are below the typical M7 averages, making admission challenging. Improving your GMAT score (target 720+) would significantly enhance your chances, especially given your competitive demographic. Additionally, craft a compelling narrative emphasizing leadership, impact at Google, and your global perspective. If M7 feels too ambitious after reevaluating your score, you can consider good T15 programs as excellent alternatives. We would suggest gaining more work experience, creating a strong profile and then applying for an MBA rather than applying with less work experience at M7.

an1rudhg - Your undergrad pedigree and work-ex present good angles. The GMAT score is a bit on the lower side for M7's (check out the latest available stats here), given that the GPA isn't high either.

I'd like to understand your professional journey (e.g. what projects/ functions have you worked on, have there been promotions, etc.) and career goals to advise better. Broadly though, applying with a higher score and/ or considering wider UST-15 programs can help increase odds.

Feel free to reach out with your details for a deeper assessment.

Hi an1rudhg,

Your profile presents a strong foundation. Your strong GMAT score, work experience at Google, and international background are significant assets.

However, your undergraduate GPA could be a challenge for the most selective M7 schools (Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, etc.).

Your experience at Google is a significant strength. It demonstrates your technical skills, work ethic, and ability to thrive in a demanding environment. Your upbringing in Africa provides a unique perspective and global outlook. Your GMAT score is competitive and demonstrates your aptitude for rigorous academic work.
Challenges:

A 3.2 GPA might be a concern for the most selective M7 schools. While your current score is competitive, a slightly higher score (700+) could further strengthen your application. However, focus on crafting a compelling application that showcases your unique strengths and career goals.

Consider schools that place a strong emphasis on work experience and potential: Schools like Kellogg, Booth, and Ross may be more willing to consider your overall profile, including your work experience and leadership potential, despite your undergraduate GPA. By focusing on these areas and leveraging your strengths, you can increase your chances of admission to top-tier MBA programs. Focus on crafting a strong application that highlights your unique strengths and demonstrates your potential for success. Our MBA consultants would be happy to connect with you over a free profile evaluation discussion and tailor your applications. Your Google experience is a strong asset. Top MBA programs typically prefer applicants with 4+ years of work experience and applying in Round 2 for the 2025 intake is not advisable. Your 655 GMAT and 3.2 GPA fall below the average for top programs, making admission challenging. If M7 schools appear out of reach after evaluating your profile, consider Top 15-20 programs as excellent alternatives. Improving your GMAT score (aiming for 675+) will significantly boost your chances, especially given your competitive background.

We would be happy to evaluate your profile in depth, kindly DM us to schedule a call.
