Hi all!

I am requesting a profile review. The schools I am looking at are Columbia, NYU, Kellogg, Chicago, Cornell, Wharton, Harvard, Tuck, Virginia, Duke, and UofT Austin. I am going to have a Finance concentration. My top 5 choices (ideal) would be to get into Columbia, NYU, Chicago, Wharton, or Kellogg. I will be applying this Fall for entry in Fall of 2016.

Gender: Male
Race: Hispanic White (Cuban)
Age: 28 at application
Current income range: $45,000-$55,000
GMAT: 680 (43Q, 41V)
GMATPrep Scores prior to GMAT: 640 on first practice exam on 12/5/2014 and 760 on second practice exam on 1/2/2014
Recent Academic Achievements: CFA Level 1 Pass (CFA Level 2 Candidate for June 2015; may pass before applying), CAIA Level 1 Pass.
Undergraduate GPA: 3.20
Undergraduate School: University of Florida
Undergraduate Concentration: Major in Economics, Minor in Business Administration
*Note: I also took heavy mathematics courses including Calculus 1, 2, 3 and Differential Equations
Work Experience at application (months): 72
Work Experience Industry: Finance and retail
Post-Graduation Job Focus: Financial Research and Analysis

You had me at Hispanic. Seriously, your profile is good and you should have a fairly reasonable time getting attention from your target schools even though your GMAT is a bit lower than the average for these schools, your quant background should help support your candidacy. By far your strongest suit, however, is your ethnicity. There are very few hispanic applicants to business schools. This puts you in a very valuable position as an applicant, since the perspective you offer in the classroom is a very desirable one. You should speak to this perspective in your application and if you do so in a compelling way, my guess is you will hear from schools for interviews.

Thank you very much for your comment on my candidacy for business school. I plan on retaking the GMAT on Valentine's Day. Hopefully I'll be coming home with more than a bouquet of flowers!

Thanks for your help Bryant! I retook the GMAT and got a 760!

760 with Hispanic Ethnicity means you can go to literally any business school you want as long as you can pull off a decent interview and clearly articulate your post MBA vision in your application. Let us know if we can help. WAY TO GO!! The future's so bright, you gotta wear shades.
