Hi,
I am planning to apply during Round 1 and 2 of this year for an MBA, potentially an MBA/MPP dual degree and wanted to get your perspective on my profile and ask if you have any advice for me when it comes to selection of schools.
A little bit about myself, I am originally from Pakistan where I grew up and spent the first 18 years of my life (dual citizenship of US and Pakistan). After high school, I got admitted to U of Southern California and decided to move to the sunny shores of Los Angeles by myself. Majored in Business Administration with a concentration in finance. Overall GPA was 3.58 but GPA for courses taken at Marshall was 3.81 (Writing and GE classes gave me a tough time in the first semester). On partial scholarship during last year at SC. Joined the Advisory practice at a Big 4 firm after graduating in the Regulatory and Compliance market practice. However I want to get an MBA in order to make the jump to MBB preferably in the Middle East. Their practices in the ME handle projects in Pakistan as well and usually work with the Govt on high impact projects in the social sector.
GMAT: 1st attempt in 2013 700 (47Q/38V). 2nd attempt earlier this month 740 (49Q/42V)
Volunteer work: 2 years working as an Associate for non profit aimed at educating Pakistani students about undergrad and grad school opportunities in the US and guiding them through the process free of cost.
Additionally, leadership experience in firm's local office's volunteer board.
Target Schools: Tuck, Sloan, Haas, Johnson (Cornell), Fuqua, Mendoza. (HBS?). Also planning to apply to Kennedy for MPP program.
Thank you.
