Q48 V6 IR 6 - Online GMAT

Question

I took my GMAT Online 2 days back. I don't know how to react by looking at my score.

I woke up an hour back and saw a mail that my official score is available. I was excited but now I have no idea how to react to my situation.

To be honest , I was doing better in mocks .

I used to get Q48-49 and V25-32 in official and veritas Mocks

On the exam day, I was calm and composed since it was online exam from home. I booked my exam at 12:15 PM. 
 I had coffee, fruits & Veggies in the morning . That is my usual breakfast. 
I did my math well and before going to verbal , My stomach was not okay . I managed not to think about it and focused on exam. 
I read all the 4 RC & for last 2-3 ques , I didnot get enough time. So I marked randomly and finished the session.

I am planning to take my exam once again.

I don't want to blame GMAT or myself for my verbal score. I deserve 700+ and I am gonna work on it. THE END

can someone suggest me what has happend to my verbal score??

And how to proceed further?

Hi, given that your mock exams give you reason to believe that you deserve 700+, your verbal score is most likely because of your stomach not feeling okay - probably because it's an exam, so despite having your regular breakfast you felt queasy or your initial verbal questions put you off or maybe because you ran out of time. You're in the right track as you want to figure out how to proceed and not blame anyone for what happened.

In case you didn't try this before, you can give your mock around the time you schedule for your actual exam and eat your breakfast as always and give your mock. This way you'll be more used to the atmosphere - having breakfast and then giving the exam. You could also focus more on verbal timing and have a backup plan and be mentally prepared in case you start to run out of time. It will help you to focus on the questions at hand and not lose focus because of the time while keeping up your morale and giving your best even if the timing is not on par.

Thank you  Sara989  for your encouraging words.
I used to take mocks after 7pm in the evening. Mornings my mind thinks alot about other things and fluctuates often.So, I take in the evenings 
I know that fact but I just booked my exam in the morning so that I won't feel anxious till evening.
I guess , that is the biggest mistake I made.

Sometimes, I freak out when I run out of time during verbal. But V6 is horrible and it is the worst nightmare that anyone could get.
Should I write a mail to GMAC ?? 
I am soo sure that I don't deserve the least score possible.
At the same time, I can't worry so much and waste my time right.
so, I will focus on my weak areas and take sufficient mocks at my comfort time

Hi Fighter1095 ,

You should definitely write to gmac.
V6 score is absurd if you have attempted full paper.
There must be some technical error.
I took trial once where i answered just 1 question and closed the exam.
My score was V6, hence kindly take this up with gmac.

Hi Fighter1095, as far as emailing GMAC is considered, I believe the seniors and experts in this forum should be able to advice you better. However, because you cannot predict how that would turn out, you're right to focus on your prep simultaneously and take mocks at your convenient time.

It is true that having an exam later in the day means you are likely to worry about it earlier in the day. However, if you were to take a morning exam you will be worrying about the exam the night before and may even have difficulty sleeping. So regardless of when you decide to book the exam, GMAT being a crucial exam, the stress will be there - which makes it all the more important to make it as familiar and comfortable as possible within our means. Hence, I really believe taking the exam at a time similar to mocks and being mentally prepared so that you don't overstress will be really helpful for you.

As has been suggested, you may want to contact GMAC about your verbal score, as scoring 6 in verbal requires that you choose the incorrect answers to the vast majority of the questions.

That said, since your practice test scores have been well below your goal score, and since you didn't finish the verbal section when you took the GMAT, you need to work on verbal anyway. So, contacting GMAC about your verbal score may be a waste of time.

To increase your verbal score, you have to work topic by topic to develop full understanding of each topic and question type and to practice by answering topic specific questions.

Most of your verbal practice should be untimed by the way. You won't learn to answer verbal questions by seeking to answer them in under two minutes each. You have to spend time on each question, learning to see what there is to see.

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied? Over the last month, how many hours did you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
