Questions about Knewton

Question

Retaking GMAT soon, was considering getting Knewton for the 50 point guarantee. I have read that this is done using their CAT #1, which many suspect is scored tougher than the rest of the tests so that people get lower initial scores. If you have taken the real test already, do you use your real score as your starting point or do they still make you use your score on their first CAT?

Do people find that Knewton helps them? I am already at 710, but scored 740/760 on the gmat prep tests right before my exam. Just had a bad test day and am confident I can improve enough to justify a retake. Does it help more with fundamentals or with strategy? How are its "advanced" questions and videos?

Nevermind about the guarantee, just saw on their website that they will compare it to your previous score (if you have one) or your first CAT. I'm an idiot.

But would still appreciate input about whether or not you guys think Knewton would help for more "advanced" topics. 45Q/41V was my breakdown on my actual exam, and I know I need help on Quant and can do better as my actual quant score was lower than my Q score on my 2 GMAT Prep tests (49 then 48), and lower than most of my manhattan CATs (44-47). My verbal score was lower than one of my gmat prep tests (41 and 47) and lower than all of my manhattan tests (between 42 and 45).

I figure Knewton can't hurt, as I would be happy either way to have a 760+ or a free course, but my question is if it would be worth the time since they track if you have done all the videos and they are a total of 39 hours. I plan to retake in a 1-1.5 months and also start on my apps at this time, so I question the return on the investment of time into the knewton videos in addition to my other planned prep.

I have gone through most of them, but almost all have been from people who took the live class that they used to offer. Now they are all on-demand, which seems like it would be a different experience since you can't ask any questions.

As far as I know, Knewton has always been an on demand company. It's the model the company took to offer the service other programs offer but at a much lower cost base.

I'd be surprised if Knewton didn't have a service to answer questions.

Sounds like they used to offer a product called "premium live" for about $700 that was a live online course that a lot of the reviewers seem to have taken. The on demand course used to be a cheaper option to the live instructor course.

I am on the fence right now, seems like its a lot of time to put in to be able to get the 50 point guarantee, and I was just wondering if others thought it actually helped them to go from around 700 to 750+.

The website does not mention any sort of question answering, but it could in fact be a part of the program that they do not advertise.
