Hi Karthick,

How do you perform on RC when you take a FULL-LENGTH CAT? I ask because there's a significant difference between starting off your 'study day' with some RC practice (when you're awake and alert) and dealing with RC after you've already done almost 3 hours of work (on the AWA, IR and Quant sections).

As an overall skill, note-taking is useful throughout the GMAT AND will be a big part of how you deal with Business School. When you're working through a Case Study that's several hundred pages in length, you're going to be taking notes, regardless of how honed that skill is. Properly developing that skill now will benefit you for years to come.

Hi

I solved 6 RC passages. The 4 passages involved taking notes (manhattan way) and my accuracy was <30%. May be I concentrated more on writing than understanding the passages.
But my last 2 passages, I didnot take notes. I concentrated completely and tried grasping as much as i could. It resulted in 7/8 (90%_accuracy).

Kindly advice whether the latter way of solving RC is better (or) Note taking is a compulsion in answering RC`s.

Cheers
Karthick

Hi Karthick,

I will aslo echo the opinions of others. How you tackle the RC can be different from how others tackle it.
One solution does not fits all.

The bottom line is to arrive at the correct answer on the GMAT. If you are able to do so without taking notes, go ahead.
However, the topic and difficulty of the passage also plays an important role in the accuracy of your response.
I would suggest you to test your hypothesis on few more passages before removing the note taking completely out of your system.
