Hi everyone,
I was hoping someone could help shed some light on RC for me. Throughout my studies, RC has been my weakest subject by far. On my practice exams, and even the real exam, I performed lowest in this section, and it's been dragging down my Verbal score significantly.
I've read a bunch of strategies and tips online about staying engaged with the passage, taking notes, mapping, and using certain words to gauge the author's intent, but nothing has really worked for me. I think the issue is that 1) I don't read outside of studying for the exam 2) I have a lot of difficulty actively reading something that disinterests me. I tend to skim articles, browse forums, and gloss over headlines for news events. This is very problematic for me, and it's the last hump I have to get over to score 700+.
Any advice is tremendously appreciated! (That is, if I'm able to finish reading it

Improving RC is not easy in a short period of time. But possible.
I would advise against reading about tips on how to improve reading. The best way to improve is by doing - or watching how it's done and learning from that.
You may be interested in some of these video tutorial walk-throughs of how to think through a test question and how exactly to read it - where to focus and where NOT to focus.
