Hi sharathnair14,

To start, the 750+ score is approximately the 98th percentile - meaning that most Test Takers never score that high (regardless of how long they study or the number of times that they take the GMAT). Thankfully, NO Business School requires a score that high - so it's important to realize that the score that you "want" and the score that you "need" are not the same thing. Unfortunately, no combination of study materials (much less free study materials) can guarantee you that type of score result - and by limiting your studies to just the free materials available, then you will likely limit how high you will score on Test Day. As such, you might consider all of this as an investment in your future and not a series of expenses to try to avoid.

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
3) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi sharathnair14,

I’m glad you reached out, and I’m happy to help. Unfortunately, you likely won't be able to achieve such a high GMAT score by relying only on free materials. I’m happy to provide some further advice, but it would be helpful for you to first take an official practice exam to get a baseline score. Once you take that practice exam, please report back here with the score breakdown.

Also, you may find it helpful to read this article about How to Score a 700+ on the GMAT.

Good luck!

Hey You guys!
Thanks for the replies.

I did take all of your advice to go and choose a course. I've chosen to go with CrackVerbal and so far, the content on the online course has really helped me with the basics. Just the matter of progressing and covering all the topics. It's been almost a month now since I took the course. Currently coming to terms with my understanding in the Critical Reasoning Section. I see it as something I'm really weak at. I'm putting in the hours and analyzing each question as I go. I'll get to that 760 score. Slowly, but surely.
Thanks for all of your replies, I really appreciate it!
Cheers!

PS- My first GMAT Prep had a modest score of 510 (Q32 V28 and IR3) ScottTargetTestPrep Akela EMPOWERgmatRichC Rubina11 DisciplinedPrep
