Clear crisp meaning, indicates that dolphins have the capability of being trained (capability of what?) to communicate as humans (compared to humans) and preposition do (comparison of dolphin communication and human communication)

The problem with "as humans" (without "do") is that it would mean "in the role of humans." So what A, B, and D are saying is that when the dolphins communicate, they ARE actually humans for this purpose. We occasionally use this phrasing to describe someone who is not really in that role ("The child offender was tried as an adult."), but usually we apply it to cases where what we're describing really DOES fit that description: "As a dad, I can relate."
The "are able" part of A is fine. The question features two idioms, either of which could be used: "able to" and "capable of."
