They are most likely able to track it. If not, you would be able to retake the test within 30 days right?

My question is why do you consider 720 a baggage? Most people would consider it to be a really good score. I can understand if you are fearful of getting a score that is lower than 720 or slightly higher, but even in that case, your best score will be considered. At most they may get a little suspicious as to why you chose to retake the exam.

In any case, if you are not fully confident that you can overcome the general standard deviation of GMAT retakes, you should not retake regardless of whether the adcom is able to figure out your history.

Hi Rishabh,

Assuming that you went through the formal identification process when you took your last GMAT (ID/Passport, photo taken, palm-scan, etc.), you're not likely to successfully create a brand new "account" - you'll have to provide all of the same information again which will MATCH the information that's already in the system.

As an aside, if you really attempt to create this second account and are caught, then this might really "look bad" on your applications (you don't want your score report showing up "red flagged"). So if you really want to retake the GMAT (and with a 720, it's probably NOT necessary), then do so without any of this other nonsense.

Large downside possibility, very little upside.

Thank you everyone.

I was able to verify, they do keep track of palm prints and finger prints, so doing this will not result in any upside. I didn't actually do it - I just confirmed it.

So, if anyone is considering, don't bother with it.

Cheers.

Good question.
I have a similar one. I am citizen of 2 countries. What if I decide to create a new account for my other "identity"? :) Basically, DOB and name will be the same, but the Passport number & citizenship will be different.

Hi mvictor,

Do you have the ability to change your 'palm print' and remove the 3 photos the Centers have taken of you (when you took the GMAT those 3 times)? Because if you do not have those abilities, then attempt to set up a second account and get caught, it might appear (to those who care about these things) that you're attempting to 'cheat' the system somehow. I don't think that you would want any of that 'negativity' attached to your score reports, so I would advise against any of these ideas.

Any sensible business school does NOT have GMAT as their only criteria for selecting candidates.
If they were bothered about how a person did ( presumably low) on a previous GMAT, they would "ask" for that specifically, and should not be a red flag.
So IMO, it should not matter to schools if a person used different accounts to take GMAT .
GMAC has an important task to keep track of the month-long gap, which is now reduced to 16 days just for the sake of tracking that time.
Ideally GMAC should allow people to hide a score they do not want to show ( including old sores). They have introduced new guidelines now, and those are welcome, and IMO GMAC should help people who are not so satisfied by low scores to hide /cacnel , even i the sore came before the policy.

Love the "including old sores" bit :)
