Do you guys spend a lot of time on Poets & Quants? There's a really good article on what to do if you're on the waitlist. Click here.

Also, if I understand correctly, getting off the waitlist means that there are openings in the class and I think this means you'll have to wait until August because July 31 is the deadline to register in the program. If I'm right, that's when the admissions office finds out how many people they need to fill in their seats.

Why would you think that? Your GMAT and GPA looks to be within range, and it looks like you have work experience. It's all about selling yourself in the application.

Exciting to see you guys doing Rotman Challenge. All the best on your next round. Hope to meet you all here at Toronto soon.
I hope internationals have already started VISA application. Last year we had a delay because of a labour strike at the consulate. Earlier the best.
Last year we formed a whatsapp group of admitted students to discuss on VISA progress, sharing thoughts , house hunting etc, I would advise you guys to do so if theres isn't one.

Hey anandin,

Your username is very similar to one of the Rotman MBA ambassadors; work experience on your profile here sort of matches too. Just wondering if you might be that person. And if you are, I wanted to ask: how did you become an ambassador? Did they ask you or did you volunteer yourself?

As for a whatsapp chat, there's one that exists (as well as on Viber) for admitted students that you can access through the Facebook group. Is that what you were referring to?

Hey MrBilliards, you are right. I generally dont do nick names and I am that Rotman Ambassador. When you will be in Rotman, the admission team will ask if anyone wants to volunteer as Rotman ambassador. I was helped by few Rotman ambassadors when i made my choice of MBA , so now is my time to give back. And thats why im offering to help you guys.

Great! Are there requirements for eligibility? Also, the Rotman MBA ambassadors are only set when the program starts (in September)?

Also, did you participate last year in the Challenge? Any advice for the Round 2 presentations?

I didnt participate last year. Last year format was different though. we had only 2 rounds. Advice : Keep your presentation structured & concise. Have a flow. Remember you are presenting to CEO as per case. All the best

You will learn a lot about presentation skills when you are here.

Ambassador eligibility requirements are none, its a volunteer program and its upto you to contribute to the community. and yes you can become one once you start classes here.

Mr B,

The over-all winner (sum of R2 scores and R3 scores) of RPSC will be awarded a $100k scholarship.

But, the winner of R3 presentation round (where all those who have made it to R2 are allowed to present their submissions) will be given a cool $5k (not so cool if we look at the other figure).

Just to correct you a little bit, Round 2 and Round 3 are both individual presentation rounds. Round 2 consists of all those invited by the judges, having succeeded in passing through Round 1, which is the written essay. Round 3 is the individual presentation final, which has only three (3) competitors from Round 2 making it through.

According to the email you got if you made it to Round 2, the award for winning Round 3 is $5,000. However, according to the Rotman Problem Solving Challenge website, seen here, the award is $10,000. I was just wondering if anybody noticed this discrepancy.

Also, the final winner is not calculated from the sum of Round 2 and Round 3 scores, but scores from Round 1 (written essay), Round 2 (individual presentation) and the Final Round (team presentation), and the award is full tuition, which is closer to $90,000 than $100,000.

Amen to that. Also, thanks for the P&Q link. Will try to adopt a strategy or two from there.

From my understanding, you would typically have to wait until your official transcripts are in before you'd be invited for an interview. Ask yourself, why would an admissions director look at an unofficial transcript that could have been altered if they can just wait for the official one? Why the extra work? Especially now when they have more applicants than they expected in Round 2, they'll only be reviewing those with fully complete applications.

However, there are exceptions, and in my opinion that happens if you are an all-star applicant. As in, you have a 760+ GMAT (99 percentile), stellar work experience at a global top firm, amazing recommendations from substantial leaders at that firm (better yet, Rotman MBA alumni), then they might invite you for an interview.

Your reasoning makes sense; however, I can tell you that, even though my GMAT is nowhere near 760, my application was reviewed before my official transcript was received. I even received an interview invite & interviewed with no official transcript on record yet. They did however say that any decision made will be conditional.

I interviewed thought my official transcript has still not arrived. I was told an offer could be made conditionally, however the individual who interviewed me seemed reluctant to give me any information until they had my official transcript. Why Rotman thinks I would forge my 3.2 GPA is beyond me though :)

Doesn't Rotman do background checks at matriculation??

IMO it doesn't make any sense. Why would anyone forge their transcripts and expect to get away with it. None of the US schools ask for official transcripts. If someone forges transcripts, they would be caught at the background check stage when they accept their offer.

Hi,
I applied in Round 2 for Rotman and am yet to receive any sort of confirmation - neither a Ding nor an interview call. The last communication I received was from Sheldon on 21-Feb saying 'the decision process could be a bit delayed'.
My further 2 mails have not been responded to.
Don't understand what is happening. Any one else is in my situation?
Regards
Ganesh

I'm on the same boat.. the reply that I got was that since I had not sent my official transcripts, the decision would be delayed; however, they didn't ask me to send the official transcript and said that they would work with the unofficial one. :(
