https://forbesindia.com/article/rotman/selfdevelopment-101/37411/0, Maja is a great prof.

During the RPSC weekend, I got a chance to attend a self-development lab session with her. It was very enjoyable.

Hi,
Has any of you been called for Round 4 ???

Have you heard about anyone that has been accepted with a low gmat ??

Define 'low'.

If you see their website, they claim their range is from 550-780, so ya low GMAT scores have been accepted in the past i suppose. Moreover, I personally know people who were accepted with low scores last year. But I am sure they made up for that in other areas of their application. Hope that answers your question.

Ok..that I am not sure of...lowest i know of last year was 620 and this year lowest i know is 640(round 1). I am sure there are ppl who have scored lower but either way I would recommend retaking the GMAT and scoring atleast a 620 to be safe(even though its still a low score judging by all the 700 aboves I am seeing on this forum). If retaking isn't an option, then I hope your profile and experience have some stuff that is unique and can be considered as a great contribution to the class. Also your GPA should be atleast 3.0. Hope that helps. All the best!

Ok. So generally how it works is that when you begin your application process, someone from the Admissions Team contacts you. That person would most often be the one to answer all your queries regarding your application. I suggest you mail that person.

If you have already given your interview, just mail the person you interviewed with saying that you retook the gmat and your unofficial score is so and so. Official score will be directly sent to them in 20 days ( that's how many days it takes GMAC to send the official report as far as I recall). Then just keep your fingers crossed and wait to hear back.

Hope that helps.

Low by what standards? By GMAC standards a sub-600 GMAT is still average, but if you're talking Rotman then yes it's low. As previously mentioned though, the range for GMAT scores at Rotman has a low-end of around 580, so it's not impossible for sub-600s to get in. Though, again as mentioned previously, these applicants are probably all-stars everywhere in their application: long and productive employment at a top firm, with great recommendations there, stellar essays, etc. Rotman touts that its application assessments are holistic in nature, and I believe it's true: so your GMAT is just worth one-sixth of your application, the other sixths being your undergraduate transcript (graduate doesn't count at Rotman), admissions interview, essays, recommendations, and work experience. Stand out in any other component and you might have a chance with a low GMAT.

But, why would you? The GMAT is something you can control at this point, compared to four of the other five parts; meaning your score is dependent on what you do now. Also, keep in mind that Rotman's strength is in finance and consulting. For these two industries, especially in consulting, you would need a 700+ GMAT to even be considered for an interview (though there are exceptions). So if your target is either of these two industries, I'd recommend rewriting the GMAT...

That's difficult to say. While getting an invitation to interview means that the other aspects of your application has deemed you to be a good candidate on paper, the admission interview is a make-or-break depending on how you conduct yourself. After all, Rotman does say that the interview is worth one-sixth of your overall application.

But if you want to look at numbers, sources say that there are approximately 1,200 applicants every year, and about half get through to the interview. So, 600 interviewees, but only 350 seats - 58.3%. That means you have to do better than 41.7% of the pool of interviewees. Hope that helps.

I don't know of any chat groups for Indian applicants either. The official Rotman '16 Facebook group for intakes is only for those who have successfully been offered admission, as the administrators of the group are Rotman MBA staff and they have access to the list of candidates. The Rotman '16 group does have Whatsapp and Viber group chats to discuss meet-ups and other information like visa applications, housing locations, etc. But again, these are typically those have already got in. From my participation in these chats, the most active members are typically Indians, as they share a lot of their concerns about visa applications and housing here.

Also, congratulations achakraverty!
