Hi linuschoudhury,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. It's also interesting that this Official Score is similar to the CAT/mock Scores that you posted about in early March (in regards to your earlier studies). By extension, it's possible that you developed some 'bad habits' during your earlier studies that are keeping you from scoring higher. Since it's been approximately 3 months since we last discussed your studies, before we discuss any of those potential issues, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) What type of study routine have you been following over the last 3 months? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used over the course of ALL of your studies? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) Are you still planning to apply for Round 1? What is the minimum GMAT Score that you would apply with?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Hey!

I took my GMAT on Aug 31
Studies:
1) How many hours did you typically study each week?
Studied mostly on weekends for few months, not intensive. hardly 10 hours a week.

2) What study materials have you used over the course of ALL of your studies? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
I used egmat, didn't help much. Mocks from expertsglobal, score ranged from 690 to 750.

3) On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
My first attempt for GMAT Prep 1 mock: 2 years back and scored a 690
My recent attempt for GMAT Prep 5 mock: recent Aug 22: 710
All the official mocks ranges between 690 to 710
Quant range: 48-50, verbal: 31-34

Goals:

My overall goal score is at least 740.

4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
Planning for MIT SDM, Cornell Tech MBA, Kellog MBAi, CMU MSSM , Goizueta, Mendoza, SMU Cox. Ordered by preference. All one year MBA programs. Applying for round 2.

I have attached the ESR

Hi linuschoudhury,

You still have plenty of time before the Round 2 application deadlines. That having been said, since you are interested in some highly-competitive Schools, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

I've also sent you a PM with an analysis of your ESR and some additional questions.
