I had no idea this was a thing! Was your first interview guaranteed (before the deadline) or after? Was it with a student? Is the second one with adcom?

A friend received it on Monday. I didn't. I heard about other people who did too last year. I believe this means that you are still being considered but they are not confident about you and decided to offer a second interview to close some gaps

Do you know if the second interview was with a current student again? Intuitively it seems like the second interview must be for candidates they've liked from the pool of candidates guaranteed an interview. I applied before the 9/1 deadline and interviewed with a current student. Haven't received a second interview invite so unsure as to how to interpret that.
