Should I accept the offer from Simon, UofRochester?

Hi

So after the long application season for me, I am stuck with 3 waitlists at top 20 schools. However, I have also got an offer from Simon Business School (and quite a lucrative one at that with 55% scholarship). Now I'm at a crossroads where I have to decide if I should accept the offer and go ahead with Simon. The other option will be to wait out the waitlists, and in the worst case scenario, apply next year. The latter is something I'm really not looking forward to.

My question is whether I should take up Simon. As a school, I'm really sold on it in terms of faculty, programa and community in general. My only worry is the recruitment and the job prospects post MBA (specially since I'm an international candidate). Could someone throw more light on this?

What would you guys do in my situation?

Broadly speaking, schools outside the top15 tend to have more of a regional focus. Rochester primarily attracts local folks or folks intending to move in the Rochester area. Is that your case?

And if you don't go to Simon, what's the alternative? Can't say if it's a good or a bad choice without knowing the alternative..

(and you should probably pay the deposit even if you are waiting to hear from other schools - it's an "option" on the school. it lets you decide later on. without making the deposit you may end up with no option at all at the end of the season)

Well, I have no particular preference in having to move to any area in the States. However, what I want is a good education (which I'm confident in Simon for providing) and good post-MBA opportunities in the industry. The latter is something, however, which I'm not very confident about, and this is primarily what I wanted to know more.

What kinds of things are you doing to get off of the wait lists at the other schools? Or are you pretty content with the decision to go with Simon?

I am sending periodic updates. Reference letters, additional essays, one employment update. All of it to show my fit at the places. I haven't finalized on Simon yet. Apart from the W/Ls, I have also applied and interviewed for schools in R2. Will make a final decision by April.

You're doing all the right things to get off those wait lists, but it sounds like you're not too thrilled about the prospect of going to Simon. Are you? I know how much it sucks to have to wait another year, but is it really out of the question? In as few as ten months from today, you could know where you're going if you apply again in R1.
