Hi All,

Under the given geopolitical situation, will it be advisable for Indian candidates to apply to US schools?

I have a GMAT score of 700. I'm targeting colleges within top 30.

One option is to apply to top US schools. But the fees is exorbitant. With my score it is quite tough for an Indian male fashion designer to get a scholarship from any top B school. The current political situation is quite scary for job perspective. Not getting a job in US after such a huge investment is a nightmare.

The other option is to try for Indian colleges. There are 3 Indian colleges in top 35. They're not that fancy but have a respectable reputation.

Will be obliged if someone can share the way forward. Thanks!!

Belated welcome to GMAT Club GoodGuy!
I think your profile as a fashion designer is VERY STRONG and unique, thus presents a very good opportunity for you to break into the top Schools if you play your cards right. I will let the experts comment on your GMAT Score but in general, folks pick BSchools based on where they want to end up. Usually if you want to end up in India, there is not a lot of sense in going to Booth or Kelley for example and lose touch with your professional network.

Same goes about the US, if you want to be in the US or Europe, then you want to go to school there. It is tough to graduate from ISB or IIM and head to EU or US. Good luck!

I would recommend that you think about the ideal post-mba job that you would like to achieve and then get in touch with whoever recruits for those jobs. My instinct here is that it's not going to be worth the expense for fashion design which is really more the domain of European MBA's which are incidentally 1 year so that's cheaper already. You can shoot for the program at NYU Stern but otherwise I really just don't think the value proposition is all that compelling for you here. I do think getting work authorization would be a challenge but I encourage you to check into it and kind of reverse engineer this entire process rather than make expensive permanent decisions and cross your fingers
