It took me a while to understand what part of the question needed to be changed... can you please underline it? However I also agree that it is B.

for a moment i considered E as a contender but later discarded it as the sentence starts with sometimes they lose money....so when is required to relate to that time..

can someone please explain why option B is correct? we have an independant clause right after "and", yet we don't have a comma before "and." can someone please explain how come that's considered fine? I've always understood that intependant clause that follows "and" must have a comma before "and."

They don't have to follow a comma. I'm writing this sentence and you will read it later. <- no comma!
