Hope is such a good thing... and also a bad.....
while it makes achieving great dreams possible.... on the other side of the spectrum, an excess of it gives rise to a feeling of entitlement... and entitlement leads to despair...
ah Buddha, get me my Johnie Walker...

Tongue, I'm up there with you. I've been pretty quiet on here and I'm waiting. I got an interview invitation back when I applied in 2009. I'm a third-time reapplicant and 2009 was my second time around. This will probably be my last time applying. But I have fingers crossed for all of us on here.

Hehe... I am also a re-re-applicant in some ways (not MIT Sloan)... but sometimes I look back, I see a total of 4+4+4 months so far wasted in the MBA pursuit... Early this year, I was working on a part-time startup, which I eventually put on hold for this application round...

If this time I get dings... then it will be life on full throttle... tired of this drama.

Hey Grumpee, my case is very similar to yours... I applied to the LGO program twice, but being an international is incredibly tough. This time, I decided to go directly for Sloan R1. I am based in the Western US, so I am hoping to get an invite soon, but if I dont succeed this year, my back up is an engineering program at the Technical University of Munich.

I am hopinh this week will bring great news to all of us who have not heard anything. Cheers and may the force be with us all !

Cool guys. I'm a startup founder here so I know what you're going through Tongue. I'm testing the waters with this final attempt at Sloan. If it doesn't pan out, my GMAT score expires this year and I'm happy to put it to rest. I may need a crowd for the funeral if it doesn't happen. lol

It seems this week is slow. Nothing really happened. Hopefully next week they move to mid-west!

Saw a whole bunch of dc invites the first week - I'm a dc guy...is this bad news for me? Likely a ding unless somebody gets into another program and pulls out?

I didn't know it was regional - I applied on the deadline day a few hours before 3 pm so was thinking I might get read later than others...

This gives me hope since i'm in NYC too. I'm wondering if anyone has actually confirmed that the AdCom goes by geography. So far, the interview invitations I've seen seem kind of random.

This could be because some people might withdraw their application (someone who got accepted to Stanford GSB or HBS). So they might have more spots open later on.
So hang in there my friend.

I see this argument a lot.... but I doubt it....
I will present why in 3 steps:
1. Anyone (Let us say Joey) who applied to Stanford and got in, will tend to wait till the last minute before sending their rejection of MIT
2. The reason is: MIT could offer scholarship that Stanford didnt.
3. MIT is one of those schools which draws a very niche audience: people very comfortable with who they are, not concerned much about brand name, but concerned with what activities they can do at the school, and what they can learn. Therefore Joey has nothing to lose in waiting till the ultimate result comes out with scholarships offered. This could in turn give Joey a bargaining power with Stanford.

If I'm not mistaken HBS/Stanford are the only schools that do not offer any merit scholarships. Does Sloan offer generous scholarships, or is it mostly need-based?

My experience thus far: applied R1 with supplemental video, received an invite to interview on Dec. 4, will be interviewing in early Jan in Boston

My stats: Texas based management consultant, small highly ranked US university for undergrad, European national, 700 GMAT, 3.5 GPA in mathematical economics

Fingers crossed! Really excited, especially after painful dings from HBS and Stanford. Best of luck :-D

Yeah, frankly, I wasn't terribly optimistic given what seems to have happened in past years. But I also think there is always a lack of information that makes things uncertain. That said, I've been invited for early January in Cambridge, so perhaps the interview slots for December are up? Just speculation though.
