I know a friend who is interviewing on 3 dec.

Did you notice a small typo in that email in first para last line?

I noticed a bunch of mistakes, in addition to the small typo. It says, thank you for taking the time to meet us in Ms.. (I can only assume it means Massachusetts? but I didn't interview on-campus...)

Sloan just sent out a "Thank you for interviewing" email to those invited to interview, saying that all decisions will be released online on December 20th after 5 p.m. Seems like they might already completed all the interviews? Is there still anyone waiting to be interviewed?

I'll be interviewing Dec 3rd (virtual interview), I have a feeling I might be one of the last ones so should be a challenge to standout compared to all your other great interviews before me

Anyway will see what happens :-D

Got it - then it just seems like this is a mini update email just for those who have already been interviewed, since it's still a long way until decision time.

I am interviewing on Campus. I don't remember the number of slots that were available when I signed up. besides I could only choose a day and time between Dec 2nd and Dec 6th.

Me too - I will be interviewing on Dec 5. Only had Dec 2 to 6 option.

Good luck to everyone.

FROM Sloan Admissions Blog: Happy Thanksgiving
As we begin to wind down for the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to take this opportunity to stop and reflect.  Here are a few things I am thankful for:

My job:  Working at MIT Sloan is a privilege! I think it everyday, I say it often and I truly mean it.

The chance to connect with amazing prospective students:  I have just traveled to five other countries where I met with interesting, accomplished, diverse, and caring people from around the world.

Our Admissions Team: I am part of a team of caring and hard-working people who understand the responsibilities that we have as an Admissions Team and who believe in our holistic admissions process. This process is focused on truly getting to know each candidate, and it is one that I stand behind.

A mission-driven school:  I am part of a community that is driven to identify and solve the world’s problems and to make it a better place. This is reflected in everything that we do.

Dynamic students:  Students on campus are collaborative, focused, authentic and they never cease to amaze me. They make sharing stories at MIT Sloan an easy and exciting thing to do.

Supportive alumni:  During every information session I meet with accomplished alumni who come out in droves to share their personal stories and insights. They help us bring the MIT Sloan culture alive.

MIT Sloan is a transformative place and I am honored to be apart of it. I invite you to learn more about how MIT Sloan can change your life.

Our office will be closed for the holiday on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Had my interview a couple days ago
I got all prepared for the behavioral questions I checked on clear admit ...
The interview started smoothly, answered a few behavioral questions... and then why MIT...

but then I got bummed when my interviewer suddenly asked me to talk about another example of pushing myself out of my comfort zone.. other than the one I gave in my essay...
Totally not prepared for that.... fumbled a bit... moments of silence.....
and I eventually did come up with one, but definitely not one I was prepared to talk about... :(

So I'm a bit confused on whether I did well on the interview...
I think it will be 3 long weeks of endless waiting...

Still, hoping for a Merry Christmas for all of us!!!!

I would struggle with that question too! I wanted to write in the essay, "this essay is out of my comfort zone".

In reality, I'm sure you did better than you think! The silences probably weren't that long and fumbles didn't come across as stumbles.

Who did you interview with?

Your perception might be skewed coming out of the interview - you probably did great! Also, my interviewer straight up told me, "if you need to take a minute to think of an example to talk about, please do so." So what you did was completely normal.

But hearing the rest of you talk about your experiences with interviews, it seems like a lot of people are asked, "Why MIT?" I was not asked this question at all, and I wonder how they are going to assess me on my interest in going to Sloan.

Anyways, enough worrying, Happy Thanksgiving (for those in the U.S.), certainly a lot to be thankful for!

Hi Folks,

Anybody interview with Shauna LaFauci Barry? How did you find the interview and what questions were you asked?

Many thanks,

Does adcom give each applicant a score (like 0-100)? I remember reading about that in one of the website interviews with MIT adcom. I wonder how they select their final class based on those scores. For example, even if Person X has a 68, perhaps most of the top applicants still fall in that 70-ish range, and therefore Person X is actually not at as much of a disadvantage of Person Z who has a 90. Wish I could see my score!

From past adcom interview comments, they rate you across 6 categories. If you pass the threshold, they interview you, then they take your interview and re-read your application with the interview recommendation and re-score you, if you pass the threshold, then they offer an invite.

I believe Booth also has incorporating a rating system, although a big difference would be 2nd year student admissions fellows participate in conducting the interviews.

There is obviously a social engineering component with other considerations or the class would never end up with 35% international 35% women year over year for the past decade or so.

This has probably been asked a few times, but want to make sure from applicants who have already interviewed.

Have you been asked for official paper copies of your transcripts? My guess is no because this was not indicated in any communication - just want to make sure.

Thanks!
