Has anybody gotten feedback from admissions on why they were waitlisted? Does that happen?

When emailing the mbawaitinglist@sloan.mit.edu address, who did you address the email to? Dear Becca or Dear Admissions Committee?

Not sure if anyone is interested, but here's how I got off the waitlist from R1 to R2:
-I sent two update letters: one talking about updates in my job and an explanation of why I was passionate about MIT and the second about work again, including a major project I worked on
-I had two colleagues send in letters of recommendation. They're both more on the level of peers and went to different b schools, but i thought they were the best to speak about my character and drive.
-A transcript from MBAMath, which I completed over the holidays. My lack of quant skills was mentioned during my interview, so I wanted to show them that I was willing to put in the work.
-An article I published. This was the major project I was working on and I thought they'd be interested in seeing what my end result looked like.

Happy to answer any questions! I know it sucks to be on the waitlist, but you can get off if you put the time and work in and you really love the school. Good luck!

I have sent my update on April-21 and got reply from Becca the next day. What about other waitlisted candidates? Where are you, guys?) what are you going to do?
Good luck to all of us!

I was a R2 waitlisted applicant, and I was admitted off the waitlist with a fellowship offer!

For those of you who are interested, I'm happy to give an overview of the steps I took while I was sitting in waitlist purgatory. The first thing I did was continue to reach out to Sloan alum to learn more about their experiences, and to see if they had advice about the WL. One of them, whom I've known for a while, wrote a letter of recommendation for me.

I also sent one update letter on April 30 which detailed the following:
- A recent job promotion;
- A high profile project I led at work since submission of my application;
- Planned attendance of the MIT Focus on Finance Symposium on May 9th;
- Enrollment of a quantitative business course over the summer;
- My continued interest in MIT based on recent conversations with Sloan alum.

Hopefully this is helpful to those who are still on the waitlist, but I'm happy to answer any questions that anyone may have. In the meantime, hang in there! :)

Are people getting accepted on a rolling basis now, or will there be another wave of WL acceptances?

Looking at the waitlist thread from last year it looks like there was a wave of movement on May 20th.

Nothing here but I agree that if they're going to admit anyone else it would probably be this week or maybe next.

Did you hear that it was today specifically?

No, I just speculated based on last year's WL forum. Seemed like Tues 5/20/14 was a big day, so I rolled the date over to this year (Tues 5/19/15).

Based on previous waitlist threads, it seems that some people who have gotten off the waitlist received a call from adcom the week before confirming their interest in Sloan. Anyone know if that trend is still the case, or if you can get off the waitlist with no prior call?

Good question. I think it might happen in some cases but I don't think it's the standard process.

Does anyone think we'll hear something next week or is that all she wrote?

I did receive a call. It was a couple days in advance of my acceptance, and it was just a short conversation to see if I was still interested in Sloan.
