So what's the general timeline one should follow to write the Waitlist letter to the AdCom? Should I start off immediately, or wait for sometime? I'm asking this because I'm in line for a promotion which will happen in February, so don't exactly know how to approach the situation.

Tell me about it! Now let's show Sloan why we belong there and try to convert! :)

Can you get your hands on any statistics how many people have made it off the wait list?
So far I've just found old chat transcripts stating that there were 100 - 200 people on the wait list.
Let's pray for a significant drop in yield??

Anyway, off for Christmas break tomorrow, I'll try to come up with a strategy despite feeling somewhat empty right now.

Did anybody have the chance to join today's chat for wait listed candidates?

Not me. Will there be any archived version of the chat available?

I think I am going to wait to send an update. But not sure how long? Do people think it would be bad to send multiple updates.
I have a feeling my interview is the reason I got waitlisted. So should I just try to go to more events to get more facetime with the adcom?

I feel like the waitlist is almost worse than rejection.

Haha it is. At least you know your fate with rejection. Just go to Wharton mate!

I second that! But in all seriousness congratulations on your admits, very impressive.

I didn't get a chance to attend the waitlist call either, it would really be great to track down a transcript if that's available. Does anyone have any idea of who we can talk to about that?

My preference for schools is Sloan over Wharton. It is important to know why you want to go back to school, and for me Sloan has a program that I believe will get me closer to my goals post MBA. Here is to keeping hope alive.

So I was able to attend some parts of the chat and here's what I got:

1. There are about 200 of us on the waitlist, all interviewed.
2. International applicant will likely hear by July 1, 2015.
3. Our applications will be re-reviewed along with R2 applicants.
4. You can send supplementary material to mbawaitinglist@sloan.mit.edu both to increase your chances and to demonstrate continued interest.

Does it seem to anyone else that some of us may have been interviewed even though they considered us candidates for the waitlist?

1. Seems about right. But 200 already? That's not reassuring!
2. I thought everyone will hear on April 6 again. That's the deadline for R2 applicants, isn't it? Your third point seems to validate that.
3. See 2

Do you mean to say they interviewed us to get on the waitlist? :O

I meant latest July 1. For visa issues to be sorted out. And yes, I'm thinking they didn't wanna go through extra interviews if they wanted a waitlisted candidate. But it's just my thoughts.

They said they'll put it up, in the FAQ, I think.

Nothing there yet, the admissions blog also doesn't have any chat transcripts on.

In the meantime, merry Christmas everybody!
