Hi All,

I have admits from these schools for Fall 2015 MBA and I am stuck between what to choose.
Schools names and details are:

Suny Buffalo:
Close to New york and Low cost too
No scholarship
74 USnews rank and good rankings in others as well like Forbes, poetsandquants, etc.
Avg salary: 55K

Mason(Williams and Mary):
20000$ Scholarship
79 Rank in USNews and other ranks declining
Avg salary: 77k
Too costly

SDSU:
Excellent location in California
Low cost
82 Rank Usnews
no Scholarship
Avg salary: 58k

UIC(Liautaud):
Decent location
Avg salary: 74k
Rank: 92 Usnews

My background:
I have 5.5 years of Work exp in IT, Indian, 27, Male, 610 GMAT after 3 retakes :)

My goals:
Work in IT Consultant firms as Senior Consultant, Looking for low cost MBA like 25k$/year and avg salary enough to repay the loan in 1-2 years and finally good GA/TA opportunities as well. After 3-4 years working in US, I would like to come back to India and work here.

Hi Vaggar,

Congrats on multiple admissions! It is always a good place to be 'stuck' with multiple options :)

There are many factors that you mention in your post and very clearly you have done good research.

As someone who came from India and has experience with US MBA and living across states, here are my inputs:

- Your career goals should be most important factor to consider. By that I mean not only the function and industry you want to pursue but also access to employers who will be open to giving you visa sponsorship. Reality is that even in Top MBA programs- that is always a challenge for international students. Being located in a major metropolis is always helpful when it comes to access to employers and doing an off-campus job search. So I would rate Chicago > San Diego > Buffalo > Williamsburg

- Getting a scholarship is great if initial investment is a huge deal for you. If you are taking student loan anyways then 20k might not mean much of a difference. But it is a personal choice.

- When looking at location, other than job opportunities, you could think about weather, city experience, social circle etc- if that matters to you. These factor also constitute your MBA experience. I would rate Chicago high on latter but if warm /sunny weather is really important to you then yeah San Diego can't be beat..

- The average salary is only an indication - you can be proactive in your job search and get multiple offers and end up getting more than that!

As per above ranking, Chicago can be beneficial. But my research for UIC says something different:
USNEWS says:
Salary at UIC:
Average base salary $74,335
Full-time graduates employed at graduation 32.7%

Businessweek says:
Job Offers: 81%
Average Salary: $74,941.00
Top Industry: Consulting

I have also been in touch with a past alumni of UIC and he said that UIC placement is 100% and especially its good for MBA in MIS.
Thats what I am also interested in. But if its placement is 100% or 83%, why did USNEWS rate it as 32%?
