how is it even possible when online question bank is complementary ?

I gave GMAT FE two months ago. The OG is closest to what you will get on the real GMAT. Nothing beats OG. In fact, I remember seeing some questions which were very similar to the OG questions that I had practice before during my prep with only slight modifications in the question stem or answer choices. In terms of difficulty of each section, being an adaptive test, you want the test to get harder. The harder it gets the better your score will be. I’d recommend moving to any other source only once you’ve exhausted the official question bank, which should ideally suffice especially for someone who’s attempting the test for the first time.

The OG Guides provide a unique and impossible to beat source of questions - especially official questions.
However, they provide no material (practical) that will help you do better on those questions; they provide no question-taking strategies or test strategies.

So the way to think about the OG - it is a great practice question source but you won’t get better just taking questions over and over. You actually need somewhere to learn how to tackle CR, how to do Sets questions, or how to deal with time management - that can come from a guidebook such as MGMAT Guides OR a course or a personal tutor you can trap in your apartment somehow
are there any free sources available to strengthen the foundation skills?
I looked at GMAT Ninja, seems okayish. I think I need some source that can get in more depth

If you are seeking free only - GMAT ninja has covered most especially the high quality free LSAT question which can be extremely valuable when you come short of good verbal questions. Other free options are 5 days trail etc. However if you are determined to give GMAT or do an MBA, it is better to take a resolution for 3-5 months - go all in - invest a few dollars on material or 1:1 tutoring if required - and come out with a great score. Anything more than 5 months mean - you are oscillating between personal life, work and gmat - none will turn out great. So key is laser focus to get the desired outcome in one go. Else it is a waste of time... cost? 325 something for exam and another 300 dollars for prep and money value of 3-5 months - is worth an investment if MBA is a clear goal for you.

Yeah I need to develop the core concepts first. I feel a bit rusty and some of the quant explanations on Gmat Ninja makes me feel I am missing those.

In other words you rather go enjoy a vacation or spend good time with closed ones than doing half hearted gmat prep... 😂

for this I would suggest doing the gmat club math book first. if you are blank on a topic then go to the videos on yt for them. there will be enough channels that will even discuss the hardest types and tricks, I am not a fan of paying for learning for gmat now.

Exactly what I thought. Wanted to brush up the fundamentals then come back and see it I really need a paid plan.
So you suggest thus might be a good way?

1) Learn the core fundamentals on each topics through yt.
2) Check out on the Gmat math book
3) Then start over the Gmat Ninja tutorials
4) Solve Questions in the OG Guide and Gmat Club Forums
5) Take Mocks

more like 2 (1 if needed ) 3 4 5, you can also learn how to learn things and develop habits and do.. 3 2 (1 if needed ) (3 if you are not happy with score) 4 5

also if you are really bad at a topic, and you are also bad at adapting to a particular topic, open the qa special directory. Honestly that has some really eye opening questions
