Airitlis
Hi,
I took the GMAT FE earlier this year and scored 695 on my first attempt. I was thrilled with the result, but my significant other encouraged me to try again. I retook the exam and scored 655 (I know—I should have studied more, but honestly, I didn’t care as much and just wanted to make her happy).
Now, I’m applying to M7 schools, and they’re asking how many times I’ve taken the GMAT. I’m fine with sharing both scores, but I’m wondering if this will make me look bad. Is it similar to the SAT, where only the highest score matters, or do schools want to see all the scores, as GMAT FE only allows to show the scores that you shared?
Thanks a lot, and Happy Thanksgiving! Hi
Airitlis,
While it's generally recommended to report your highest score, the GMAT FE system allows you to choose which score to report to each school. You can strategically select the 695 score to submit to your target schools.
Addressing the Concern:
While it's understandable to be concerned about multiple attempts, most business schools understand that retaking the GMAT is common, especially if you believe you can improve your score. As long as you can provide a reasonable explanation for your decision to retake the exam (e.g., personal reasons, desire for a higher score), it shouldn't significantly impact your application.
Focus on Your Strengths:
Your strong academic background, work experience, and extracurricular activities are significant strengths. Focus on crafting compelling essays that highlight your unique experiences, career goals, and fit with the program. Additionally, secure strong letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your leadership abilities, work ethic, and potential.
Remember, a holistic application involves more than just your GMAT score. Your essays, recommendations, and overall profile play a crucial role in the admissions decision.
By focusing on these areas and leveraging your strengths, you can increase your chances of admission to top-tier MBA programs. Feel free to check our
